DWG Sharing. Anyone want to get into that
Would you guys be interested in giving up DWGs.
I have a dwg for the dumptube flange and t3 flange.
I want one for B,H,F,K series exhaust side flange

i have all those plus toyota, ford, mitsu, and a bunch of other odd turbo flange, dp flange patterns but i'm not about to give all that info out... if you find someone willing to give out free files like that be sure to let everyone know. good luck.
i got them to but i spent countless hours getting them perfect and there is no freakin way i will just give them out free. good luck though

If anyone really wants to do this, I'll setup a google page for it. I know turbonetics has a bunch of the dimensions on their site for a lot of common flanges. There was another site too, I forget what it was but it was on hmt at one point or another.

My experience tells me people are willing to share lots of things... except CAD drawings. I would have no problem sharing (I am an open source fan
) but I just started out with SolidWorks so I have nothing to share.

This **** is almost as bad as the 'how do I make a collector' bullshit. Right of passage my motherfucking ***.
If you seriously think that someone is going to take a DWG/DFX/etc file, stick it into their 'Craftsman CNC' vertical mill, and bust out enough flanges to flood the market, you've got something wrong with you. The file is the least of your problems. If they have 480vac in their shop and a $30k into their machine, a few hundred lost in flange purchases is not going to hurt. All it takes is a single purchase your entire flange lineup, done discreately of course, 8 hours of measurements & inputs, along with a garantee of a pricematch + 10%, and you'll be nosed out of the market. Telling them to **** up a rope is only going to give them more resolve to crush you. I'm not all for swapping CAD files of course. The last CAD file my co-worker finished took something like 5 weeks to design & finalize. It makes these flange files seem like the crayon drawings of a 2yr old.
BTW if they have a machine capible of producing flanges on such a large of a scale to expletive prices up, they wouldn't be wasting their time on simple crap like this. The last place I wired a DNC package to bought a $50k machine dedicated to a single part. Small shop, small machine, huge profit. And they weren't flanges.
I think it was weirtech that I had a similar argument on HMT. All I wanted was a rough flange dimension (HF bolt spacing), and he damn near bit my head off. Speaking of HMT, search there under my username, you should find a thread with some cad files. Nothing special, just some things I did while I ate my morning cereal. But maybe I shouldn't share - god knows how hard 2D CAD files are to make.

I wont give mine out or trade my flange dxf's because it cost me money to make them fit right. i mean its not like i am scared somebody is going to steal business away from me. Flanges are the least of my worries, i hardly cut flanges only for a few select businesses around here. its the fact that i had to spend my money to buy a gasket to make the cad file from i had to use my machine to cut samples to make sure everything lines up correct. i could easily spend a couple of hours per flange drawing and cutting samples 3 or 4 times to ensure thats its correct for when i sell it my customers that i dont put out a half *** product. all that adds up to money out of my pocket, just to give it away, sorry i dont think so.
my average cad files cost aproximately $200 with out making a prototype. I have cad files that cost $2000-5000 before we got a final prototype ready for production. these werent flange but cost gets up there quickly. my last business me and another partner fought over ownership of cad files maybe its just me by I guard them like cash in a armored truck
To hell with that, SHARE THEM ALL I SAY! I have a few, just need to upload. It takes a whopping 20mins to draw a flange (yes yes cry cry)

If you want to share, share. If you don't don't. Anyone who wants to share a file, can send it to CADsharer@gmail.com. Also attach a gif file for previewing the file. http://CADsharer.googlepages.com/ will be where you can access the files for downloading.
This is off topic ,but does anyone know where I can get a cheaper/older version of solidworks. I just want it to play around with and better my cad skills. Im willing to pay ,but not looking to break the bank

exactly!
buy yourself a gasket and just take some measurements. don't be so lazy. this generation has the attitude that they are entitled to everything for nothing. i understand you want to "trade" patterns, but i wouldn't trust anything i didn't draw up myself... it's just personal peice of mind.

You can always just fork out some money and buy one of each flange that you want. Grab a mic and start measuring and draw it up yourself. Then just sell the flanges after you're done.
Were not talking laziness here, we are talking helping each other out.
I dont want them to make flanges and sell them. I want them to build stuff.
Only one I want right now s an F20c header flange.
