Default axle problems

95 del sol si with a 95 b16a3 having axle problems. Inner joint on the driver side just went so i replaced both axles. Now its sounding like a tire is flat and i can feel it in the floorboard. Im concerned with the axle position that it may be too angled. I have enjo mounts for the DOHC VTEC motor, which were an upgrade from the stock mounts.

Are you sure you got the right axles?

Not too many aftermarket axles have that rubber balancer thing...because theyre more properly balaced during manufacturing.

yeah you get lucky on the ones you buy, some vibrate, some don't. just bring it back and exchange for a different one

Jack up the front of the car and put jack stands under both front control arms. Start the car, put it in gear and let it run. Take a peek underneath and see what is vibrating. Just be ABSOLUTELY 100% positive that the jack stands are secure. This is a very good way to find vibrations and noises. I do it all the time at work.

not tryin to be a dick when saying this but what does a vibration look like? what am i looking for? I honestly appreciate the feedback and helpful hints and would rather be 100% positive before i rip the car apart again.

Trust me when I say this, if you can feel it in the floor board it will be making one hell of a noise. You will hear it and probably see something bouncing around quite a bit.

Was the problem there before you installed the new axles? If not then it is something YOU touched. The tires didn't just wake up one morning and go "blah, i feel like being a dick head today hahahahahahaahaha".

And again, make absolutely sure that the car is stable. You don't want to get run over by your own car.

You may need to have the car accelerate higher than idle to get the vibration to come out of hiding so to speak. To do this put the car in a higher gear (3rd) and put a big screw driver or pry bar on the seat and move the seat forward so the pry bar hit the gas pedal a little bit (all you need is a very small amount for the car to accelerate), you may need to get the car up to 40mph + so again be positive it is stable. Once it is on the stands shake the car to make sure it does not fall. Chalk the wheels and pull the hand brake as well.

lol you got a good point there, when i start talking out of my *** trying to fix this problem its time to take a break and collect my thoughts. I know the problem started before i replaced the axles, i had to replace the starter shortly before and noticed the axle grease spewed out over my transmission from the inner joint. drove it for a couple of weeks and then noticed the problem. I just thought it was odd the the inners were both blown.

Do like I said and listen for a hum or vibration. If something is out of the ordinary you it will be pretty hard to miss. Especially if it is as bad as you say it is.

Are your tires worn evenly? If you rub your hand across the tread there are no dips or humps? Is this vibration at higher speed? Like 60-90?

crawled under there earlier today and didn't see anything vibrate or out of the ordinary, so put it in a higher gear and had the pedal slightly depressed, with no luck. Did notice however my brand new to me axle on the right side had a pinhole leak which spewed grease all over. Called autozone and having another express shipped to me tomorrow. highly doubt this will fix it, so keep those suggestions coming. Thanks again for all the thoughts.

Pin hole leak? Please describe more..

Have you had an alignment recently? How old are your tires? Try rotating 'em. Might be a tire balance issue. Check wheel bearings.

I've also done the test run with the car on jack stands. Just be sure the rear tires are chocked and the jack stands are on the jack points of the chassis.

Gonna try an rotate the tires later on today. as far as the pin hole leak, it was like a small (1/8 inch) cut or tear in the boot. Im not perfect but I highly doubt I did that, though accidents do happen. From this tear it appears the axle grease just comes out due to the spinning and all. I've had a bear of a time getting the right axles for my car, between not even close to the outer joint completely siezed im hoping its something other than those. I did happen to see the my upper control arms are hitting the top of the wheel well and appears to be wet with shock oil at the top. Possible blown shocks causing this? Will have the results of the tires tomorrow. Thanks again

wheel bearings are good

pulled the brakes apart to make sure nothing was hung up, found I had a blown piston boot. Replaced both sides today for the hell of it. Still nothing. Any help out there?

This is interesting, seems like it starts shortly after i start to move, within a couple of seconds. I have noticed it when i get up to 40 and just let it coast down, regardless of clutch in or out or motor on or off. Im trying single things out but running out of ideas. Im hoping someone with a little tech can give me a hand.
