Strange occurance after cleaning IAVC and TB
so while I was outside working on some things, I decided that I should clean my IACV as I have never done so.
I cleaned it with some carb cleaning and a quetip (SP), I dented in the mesh, but don't think that would be a problem.
While I was waiting for that to dry I sprayed some into the TB and into the IM from the vacuum line on top of the IM.
waited 20 minutes for it to try and reassembled everything. I started it up and it bogged ofcourse from spraying cleaner in the the IM and TB. after it worked it's way through that everything seemed fine. until I let off the gas, it died. (keeping in mine the engine is at normal running temp by now) I started it up again and it idles at 500...
My first thought was to reset the ECU and see what happens, so I do that.
I start it up again (engine is cold this time) and everything seems ok, so I go for a drive. After the engine warms up, same problem idles at just above 500. As I drive around, I notice that it is gradually getting higher.
Now after about 30 minutes of driving this is what happens. as you come to a stop and put it in N, I drops down to 600 for a sec then up to 900 then settles at 750 like it should. is this normal? Before I did this, it would drop to 900 and sit until I come to a complete stop then drop to 750...
suggestions? or is this nothing to worry about?

While the IACV was gunked up, do you ever recall having to adjust the idle set screw for anything?
Also, when you opened up the throttle body to clean it out, was there a small ridge of dirt and grime that the butterfly valve closed upon?
You may simply need to re adjust the idle set screw, per HELMS instructions.

Reading through my Haynes Manual about setting the timing, it says to unplug the IACV and start the engine, the engine is supposed to run at 480 (+ or - 50) RPMs. How am I going to tell if it's at 480 RPMs if my tach only goes to 500?

never heard of one of those, thanks Chris! any info on it you can pass along?
EDIT: http://www.team-integra.net/se...D=195
this article on team integra says to set it to 650 with the IACV unpluged... which is accurate?

Here's a neat tool.
http://www.scantool.net/
$140-ish for a USB scanner, then you can get software like this...
http://www.scantool.net/?mode=...%20XP
a free software tool.. http://www.easyobdii.com/software.php
You can see real-time sensor data, etc.
Or you can get a self-contained jobber for bigger bucks.

I've reset my idle adjustment screw and it appears to be idling fine now, but there is a on and off low pitch humming coming from the end of the air intake at idle. it is very annoying.
I think the humming might just be a fluke. and not important but I wanted to get your thoughts.
