'86 CRX Si - Hatchback "Chittering/Squeaking" Noise
Mother has owned captioned car since new. Shortly after leaving the lot, the latch on the hatchback started making this chittering/squeaking noise. Dealership unable to fix other than applying lithium grease, which is a temporary (about 5 minutes) fix at best. As car has aged, noise is more persistent.
Does anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this...some kind of aftermarket part that can go in there or if Honda ever put out any kind of tech bulletin on this that we could take to the current dealer and say "here, fix per these instructions"? Or, even better, something simple we could do ourselves (not mechanically inclined BTW).
Thanks

This is a common problem with many "fixes" that people have used. Do a search for a squeaking hatch and see what you find.
try twisting the adjusters all the way out...also if you can pinpoint where the squeaking is coming from give the hatch a nice tug in the opposite direction...this may help...other than that find something that you can stick between the two rubbing parts thats not gonna wear down wicked fast....
