Default What to do about the tranny brace during Rage/Hytech install?

In another post, someone said this was needed in order to get the hytech/rage header to fit:

My question is to all of you who have had Hytech personally modify theirs, is this how John does it? And after all this has been grinded away, does it still serve as a flywheel cover? From all that I've read, it seems that the brace's purpose as transmission support is questionable. But, will it still serve as a cover with so much material taken off?

Hah, out of the question now. In the 10-15 mins I was away, I was almost done dremeling when I thought I could bring a hammer to the piece, breaking off the extra section. But, instead, it broke the whole damn support in half

Even after trying to test fit the one broken half, it seems that the flywheel will still be exposed.

gsr/b16/ls flywheel cover it is

Bummer. That's an expensive mount to replace.

The diagrams on hondapart's doesn't show too much detail as to how the gsr hardware works. Is it nearly the exact same thing as the itr piece, but with enough separation to allow the hytech/rage to fit?

It seems that most people haven't had any negative experiences with the whole brace off. My point in grinding the the itr piece down was to keep it as a flywheel cover, not as a support brace.

I just wish someone had a pic of the gsr hardware + hytech/rage setup.

no, the ITR is one single solid piece...

the GSR involves a cover and 2 separate other pieces...
you can elect to use just the cover tho

Wow, it still looks like a really tight fit. But it's still better than nothing, I suppose.

Here are some pics that I took recently of the GSR vs. ITR transmission-block stiffener(s).
