Default Yet another potential stolen civic topic

Hey guys, yeah I know this isn't the place to post this but i'm posting it because we are honda fanatics and if I ask anyone else about what to do, they'll just say..its a civic who cares.

This has nothing to do with technical stuff except for the exception of a quick release hub..but heres the story

I recently "totalled" my car. It wasn't even that bad, it was only considered totalled because both airbags decided to go. Here are some pics of the so "totalled" car..

So basically a front end that I can find for 4-5 hundred, a cracked windshield(passengerside airbag cracked it when it popped), both side airbags..which ill probably replace with a quick release and an airbag block off tray.

But anyway..now that it's totalled I'm obviously buying it back from insurance because my parts are not covered and theres about 8k into it. But the thing is when I get it insured again..I'll only have liability..which means if my car were to be stolen..I would get close to nothing for my car. Now, I don't live in the best area in orange county. I don't really have money to get more security on my car as it already has. I park deep into a street right in front of my driveway, and my window is right above my driveway. but there are ways to by-pass an alarm and a quick release. I have a 9mil but what good can it do when they might have one themselves. I only have one to scare them off..i wouldn't really pull it to kill someone unless they unload on me first...or if they ignore the fact that im pointing noe at them..hah. but anyways.....................

do u guys have any suggestions about what i can do to prevent my car from being stolen? because i know for a fact that i'm being scoped out, and if its not now my car gets stolen..it'll be later when i dont expect it.

You could always pull your plugs out at night. That'll at least keep them from driving it away

its because its a salvage vehicle..and its not worth the insurance company to cover my car because its worth so little because its salvaged..i dunno thats my guess, ill have to ask them why exacty my car cant be covered.

im not worried about them driving it away, i have kill switches around the car..its the towing im worried about. cuz all they have to do is kill my alarm, hook it up to the tow hitch and drag it away..and if parts fall off while their at it, who cares its not their car.

This may sound goofy or even look weird but ive seen it at a local mall where civics are stolen alot, there is an employee that works in the mall the has a real long clothed chain, puts it through his back to wheels and through the rear tow hook and chains it to a light pole in the parking lot. I see he had the auto club for the sterring wheel and the brake. hes been doing the for at least two years that ive seen now and his car has yet to be stolen while other civic in the lot get stolen...

get the lowjack early warning system
for those who dont know how it work , here it is
basically its a sensor hiden in ur car , that will activate once u park ur car and shut it off that sensor is linked with a keychain that lowjack provide if the sensor sence a small vibration , shake , movement in the car with out the keychain beeing close to it it will signal lowjack then lowjack will call u in the moment so basically it work if someone move or enter ur vehicle
the old school system is a pice of ****
lojack isnt really security or nuthin...it doesnt do **** to actually prevent the theft, nor when its actually stolen...it only comes into play wen ui actually notice your **** is gone, by then its prolly aready stripped to the bone n ****.
unless u got a hooked up car or sumthin that u really dont want to get stripped, lojack isnt worth the money IMO
btw, alotta people do the fuel cutoff thing....its real common now
however I’m GOOD because if my car is moved at all even ONE inch without the key in the ignition I’m notified immediately so... I think I’m good cause I’ll even know when someone's trynna tow my ****.... that's why I got the EARLY detection/notification option

and is 700 $ for 1 year

LOL sorry but that totally reminded of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7nIqB1gxho. I rear ended an suv and smashed up my front end way worse than that and the airbags never deployed.

pull the ecu fuse and the main relay fuse inside the car.
they will need a tow truck to move it then.

....or a fuse and a main relay . Do you realize that this message board is full of thieves as well? They know all the tricks. The only thing you can do to stop theft is a combination of deterrents to make it take as long as possible to take the car. The only way a thief will quit is if it takes too long.

Cant understand the story unless the pics are up, ha! I thought the pics are irrelevant (http://dictionary.com for that guy). He is asking what to do to beef up security.

Kill switch?

You may not be able to get full coverage, but you should be bale to get comp, which is basically theft.

What he said and get a motion detector on your alarm. That thing is about 50 bucks and works wonders. I park my **** and every time someone gets close to my car it goes off. If you really wanna **** everyone off get an Air horn and pins all over every opening of the car with a secondary battery. Might have to tell all your neighbor's whats up so they don't shoot you for waking them up hahah.

I'd invest in some home made kill switches. Shouldn't cost you more than about $20 for a few.

Security devices are only to keep the honest man out. If someone wants your car bad enought they will get it, you can only do so much.

I would love to hook up an EG hatch on the outside and make it look good, and park in CA somewhere and as soon as someone ***** with it, let the po po handle the rest. Once the cops get a few in custody, the rest will go back to stealing kit kats from walmart.
