Tire selection.. What model of Gforce for me?
Hi, the car is a 96 gsr integra, with some mild suspention work (lowered on pics, LCA's, bigger sway bars) nothing major.
The car has a set of all season on stock wheels, and another set of winters on steelies, so i am specifically looking for a summer tire.
The car will see just mainly crusing, with ocasional track days.. i mean 2-3 per year. What im saying is i dont need anything too incredibly geared towards performance. I said that i cruise alot, so treadwear and ride quality are important. The car will be driven all the time during the summer since its my DD, this includes everything from blazing heat waves, to hail storms and everything inbetween
Im looking into the BFG lineup of tires, and the size i need is a 205/45/16 (Or should i go with a 205/40/16?? if so why?), they will be mounted on my gramlites.
Heres the 4 selections im looking at.. Tell me what you think
Gforce T/A KD
Gforce Sport
Gforce T/A KDW
Gforce T/A KDW 2
I have read reviews and looked at specs/weight and such on tirerack.com, Im mainly leaning towards KDW's, seem to be what im looking for? Or will the sports be enough?
TYIA!!

g force sport = piece of crap
kdw nt = good dry handling and decent wet handling
kd = pure summer tire only get about 10-15000 miles. no wet traction
so if you want a bfg the kdw nt is what you are looking for..
but i would buy the hankook rs2 or the kumho spt first before i bought the bfg
spt = good dry and wet handling for less price and i believe you still get the $40 mail in rebate. hankook rs2 way better traction than either of the two and still decent wet traction

Regarding size, use 205/45-16 on your car. You can also use 215/45-16 (which BFG tires don't come in). Both are within 1 percent of the diameter of your stock size. 205/40-16 is much too small (4.2 percent smaller diameter than stock).
My tire recommendations mostly agree with vtecsi00.
The KD is a supersticky tire maximized for dry traction and won't meet your desire for decent treadlife. It's similar to the Falken Azenis RT-615, but a lot more expensive.
The g-Force Sport is not very good and I don't recommend it. In its bargain price range, the best tires are much, much better, tires like the Kumho SPT, Yokohama ES100, Avon Tech M500, and Dunlop Direzza DZ101.
The KDW doesn't come in your size.
The KDW2 is a good all-around tire, with a nice blend of good dry traction, wet traction, and treadlife. The big downside with the KDW2 is its price. You can buy similar tires from other brands (Kumho SPT, Yokohama ES100, Avon Tech M500, Dunlop Direzza DZ101) for a whole lot less money than the KDW2. Or, for the same money as the KDW2, you can get a much better, top-of-the-line tire like the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. That's why I would choose any of these tires over the KDW2. But if, for some reason, you must buy the BFG brand, the KDW2 meets your stated needs best.
Where I disagree with vtecsi00 is his mention of the Hankook R-S2 Z212. I don't think it's a good choice for you, since you're looking for good treadlife. And while it offers decent performance, the Falken Azenis RT-615 does everything better than the Hankook.

Thanks, from what i think your trying to tell me is for the price of a BFG tire i can get a equal tire from a different company for less money. The problem is, ive never been into tires, and really have no idea what tire will work best, so im trying to find a specific tire that will work/suite my needs then shop for it, because most people who work at tire dealerships etc dont know their *** from a hole in the ground and if i ask for a recomendation it probably wont be what im looking for, so thats why i want to know what i want before i buy.
I will look into the Kumho SPT's, as well as the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's, I have 2 friends that work at garages who deal these tires, i can probably get a decent price.
The place where i purchased my rims highly recommended the Falken Ziex, which i dont really want, but i noticed they had Azenis on display, maybe i should see if they can get me the RT-615's, they usually give me decent pricing.
So.. Other brands to look into?...
Falken Azenis RT-615
Kumho SPT
Goodyear F1 GS-D3
Thanks!

Did a bit more researching, and i believe im going to go with the Kumho Ecsta SPT's, since they seem to be most what im looking for, and my friend works at a shop that sells Kumho and might beable to get me a better price, i will also get a price on the Gforce KDW2's from Wallmart tommorow just to compare the two.
if you want like nsxtasy stated a good compromise then the kumho is a good choice..
nsxtasy i have had my hankook rs2 for a while and the difference between the two tire's( 615 and rs2) is that the falken's definately had better grip in dry weather but i noticed a much better handling in the rain with the rs2...that is why i recommended the rs2 as well

Rex, I think you will be very happy with the Kumho SPT.

But if you're looking for good performance - wet AND dry - then the Goodyear is a much better choice than the Hankook, since it beats the Hankook in every way. And if you want good wet and dry performance, but you also care about value (purchase price and treadlife), then the Kumho SPT is a much better choice than the Hankook (because the Hankook doesn't last anywhere near as long).

would have to disagree with you in dry traction in the hankook versus the gdy. definately the gdy has way better wet traction than the hankook.. my personal experience between the two

Then we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 is better than the Hankook in the dry (as well as in the wet).

Rex go with the SPT, you won't regret! I have them and they are great tires and are very fun in the rain!
Also Vtec I have to agree with Nsxtasy on the F1 GS-D3 vs the RS-2. I think the F1 GS-D3 would a more appropriate choice compared to the RS-2 if the OP had to choose between these 2.

I have the sports on my car and I absolutely LOVE the dry traction, they grip pavement REALLY well. Wet traction is a little worse but still not bad. Snow traction is zero. If you have a lot of snow/ice DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES. I literally mean zero traction

Sounds like you've never tried tires that are significantly better than the g-Force Sport, of which there are many. Even in the same price bracket, next time you should try the Kumho SPT, Yokohama ES100, Avon Tech M500, etc. You'll discover what's wrong with the g-Force Sport. It's not that they are terrible, but rather, that you can get much, much, much better tires for roughly the same amount of money.
