Default ABS? Sounds like a rock in a blender?

This is my first car with abs. I have not had the car for very long and have not really tested it. It snowed this week and the subdivision I live in gets missed by the salt trucks. So I get on my road in the morning going to school the road is almost completely iced over and the first thing I do is slam on the breaks to see what it does . I guess it was the abs but it sounded horrible. It sounded like there was rock in blender coming from my tires . Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Yes.

ABS is defiantly an odd sound and feel the first few times you experience it but rest assured everything is operating as it should

Thanks. Glad to know my rock in a blender sound/feeling is normal They should make the svc thing work really hard when the abs comes on so I don't have to hear that horrible sound.

Yeah it's kinda weird. It's basically pressing and depressing the brake pedal about 18times a second. Faster than a human could. Takes some getting used to.
