Default How to tell

My buddy just got a Jdm ITR motor swap for his civic. We want to make sure that it is an ITR motor and not a GSR motor with a red valve cover. How do we go about making sure that it is an ITR motor? I tried researching it and didn’t come up with much.

I have a P73 which is ITR. There are no other differences besides the LSD?

Doesn't the block have c5 instead of c1 like a gsr has.

That means the block simply has B18C.

if it has B18C stamped on it, you should be able to tell by the inlet manifold?

if its one of the lesser spec engines from the SiR or Si-VTEC it should have a dual runner inlet manifold?

someone correct me if i'm wrong but i believe thats factual

yeah, that's true, but someone could swap on a skunk2 manifold and it looks almost identical to the oem...

Right above the exhaust ports... You should see PR3- followed by a 1-4. i.e My Type-R head is PR3-4.

Now, B16 and Type-R heads are the same casting, so it could be a B16 head even. Look for green paint on the head, right next to the backside of the distributor, behind the valvecover. That means it's Type-R.

Post pictures, that helps.

It does say PR3-2 which is good. However I did not see any green paint behind the dizzy.

green paint is on the intake side/just around the distributor, no removal is necessary.
as shown!

Yep, here's another pic with everything assembled:

The paint can wear off, btw.

Alright thanks guys . There is a small spot of green paint exactly where that picture shows. There isn’t a whole lot so I am hoping it just wore off. My buddy got his swap from Hmotorsonline.com I checked them out before he ordered it and they seemed pretty legit, anyone here heard of any problems that people in the past have had with them?
