Default SPAL 4-door lock kit..

My girlfriend just purchased a 2004 civic with no power locks and is looking for a good aftermarket power lock kit. I heard the SPAL door lock kits mentioned here before and I was looking into purchasing the kit from them. The kit that I was looking at includes the remote for the keyless entry, has anyone had any expeirence with this kit? Hows the distance with the remote? Thanks

SPAL makes very good aftermarket door lock and power window kits, not sure on the range of their key-less systems, I have used them when installing aftermarket alarms, and I use the central locking systems and wire them to the alarm... http://spal.webprofessional.it...id=48 94

Install? I have installed around 100 sets, [ 2 and 4 door] of SPAL door lock kits, all went well, although getting 5 wires from inside the front doors into the car, [on some Honda/Acuras] can be a challenge, but as far as I know all of them are still working.
I have also done more then a few of their power window kits. 94

so installing the power window kits aren't too too difficult for a DIY'er?
They would be going into a 00 hatch.

Define "proper tools"? I have the basics.. good wrench set, electrical stuff (solder, crimpers etc etc).. there's no cutting/welding is there?

Have you put them into a 2dr hatch/coupe?

I've looked into just getting the whole door, but that's no fun. Plus, aftermarket should be a heck of a lot cheaper right?

I've done my door locks (actuators) and they work fine, running the wires through the doors a large PITA, otherwise it went ok.

I have done Spal window kits in all kinds of cars, no welding is needed, can't think of any cutting, [metal] in a "2dr hatch/coupe", maybe on door panel, depends on what switching you want to use, I would get the stock ones.

Better yet, get a DEI 530T window module and fully automate both the drives and pass. windows, and any double throw momentary switch will work, maybe you have a pair of unused switch locations inside the car, it would mean only having to run 2 more wires into the doors.

As for tools, it sounds like you have what you need, [hopefully one of the "etc" is a drill and drill bits].

The window motors use the same polarity reversing system as the door lock actuators you installed, except you need 2 relays for each side and a switch for each side. 94

Do you need any extra's, like relays that dont come with the door lock kit? Or is everything included?

They have "universal" kits that include everything except switches... http://www.spal.com/default.php?t=site&pgid=44 there are a number of switches available, but as I said, I would use the oem switches, or install the DEI 530T. 94

I can't tell from the photos on that site, but how exactly does the kit for the windows work?

Does it replace the factory manual window regulator? That whole crank assembly etc..
If so, what do you do with the hole in your door when you take the crank assembly out?
(the hole where the manual handle was)

I tried to email them a couple times for more info, but no response.
The car is a 2000 civic hatch.

It is a motor/ gearbox behind the doorpanel, that slides over the factory window crank shaft.

The door panel hole gets covered with a plug.
