Can't find a Defouler!
Alright so I've been to pretty much all of the local auto parts stores and I can't find a defouler for my car. They all pretty much have no clue what i'm talking about and just give me a retarded stare. Anybody have a link or something to someone that makes the defouler for this vehicle. Gettin real tired of starin at the CEL. Help please.
tried already. They had no clue what I was talking about. I saw the HELP products but I didn't see the defouler. But i'll go look again at a different store when this nasty weather clears up.
It's much less likely Autozone would carry an O2 sim rather than a spark plug non-fouler. It's called a non-fouler btw, not a defouler. Try another Autozone, that's where I bought mine.

When you go to get the part, ask for a Motormite part # 42009. That is the one you need.

curious to know.</TD></TR></TABLE>
seats the sensor a little further out from inside a race header. race headers delete the cat, and with no cat there is a lot of flow going through the pipe cuz the cat is gone which will set off a cell.
now i could be complete off here, but from what i understand, the defouler trick just seats the o2 sensor a little further out so that its not gettin the full blown path of the exhaust from a race header..
i hope that makes sense heh

It basically spaces out the O2 sensor from the exhaust flow to prevent a DTC code being thrown on cars with a longtube race header. When you delete the cat converter, it is usually nessecary to either wire in an electrical o2 simulator, or something like this, to prevent the ECU from throwing a code, subsequently leaning/enriching the fuel mixture and causing the car to run like butt.

Thanx for the info man. Very helpful.
But my other question still stands. Will I have to go back to the dealership to get my CEL reset if it is already on before I get the Non-fouler installed??

disconnect the battery for a fewminute and reconnect & let it run for 10-15 min

Once you have reconnected your battery. Just let it idle first for 10-15 mnutes. Then, take it for a spin and see if the light comes back on. If so, you didn't do something right.

nope.
You need to give your car time to "adjust" and the ecu to check through the systems
it will also "adjust" during your first cruising after the idle which is why people get lights after "cruising"

Perhaps......but i've had the new defouler on for over 2000 miles with no CEL at all. Not once.
And why are we bumping a 4 month old thread??
