K20A3 CONVERT TO K20A????
CAN ANY ONE TELL ME IF YOU CAN DO A FULL TYPE R CONVERSION TO A BASE MODEL RSX. I know the trannys are different, itm's, pistons, and other internals but if the blocks are the same you should be able to do it right? Please some who knows let me know.

Right. First off, the block is not the same, nor is the head casting. You will need to buy a the entire longblock if you want a k20a. You can swap the suspension, sways, brakes, etc but the type r's chassis has been strengthened. It's really impossible to do a full conversion. Also, unless you are in canada, have fun shaving your sunroof

why do people ask such stupid questions that have already been covered a MILLION TIMES!!!! Seriously man, do a search next time. Try http://www.clubrsx.com for your info needs or do a search here

tada. Use it!

Why are there people like you who whine
If he knew to search he probably would have, then after not seeing sufficient answers or maybe he doesnt know how to use a search engine correctly, He would then come here to ask which brings us here to his thread....and u being a jerk
The answer is the bocks are similar but different casting the Type R block is stronger and better casting than the lowly K20A3....much like the B18B compared to a C5....Its much more cost effective to buy a complete TypeR motor than to buy the crank head and such than converting an A3 to an A unless u had a free K20A with a cracked block or something crazy which is unlikely

well, let's see. He has 2 posts, he's a NOOB, that is quite the NOOB question to be asking. Why help someone that is just too lazy to search for such the simple answer. There are countless threads on this type of subject. This thread is a waste of bandwidth on this forum. And people like me whine because people like me actually look for answers instead of people like the OP who wants things handed to them on a silver platter. Then there's people like you who allows **** like this to happen by sucking on their dick and letting them go on their merry little way, handing them the answer. Maybe if Honda-Tech wasn't infested with such ******* retards lately it would be an alright place to find answers, but you have morons like the OP that corrupts this website with such idiotic questions.
but, I will give you credit, you handed him the correct answer.
And sorry for being so harsh, just getting my point across.

There is no difference in strength. the blocks are identical castings.
I'm running a k20a3 block in my built bottom end with forged rods & pistons with an a2 crank.
The differences between the a2 and a3 are as follows
- a2 block has hole drilled for coolant passage to oil cooler
- a2 block has oil squirter holes drilled
Everything else is identical. Main journals are the same so cranks are interchangeable. the oil pumps are interchangeable, the water housings are interchangeable.
IMO, for a built bottom end, the k20a3 block is the ideal choice. The stock oil cooler is kind of cheesy to begin with and you'd want a real oil cooler with a front mounted radiator. Oil squirters are undesirable in a motor with forged internals as they create an oil pressure drop just before the oil feeds into the crank main journals.
