I just bought an 00Si with 66k miles on it. i lowered it, and put an intake that was laying around on it. other than that its stock. instead of doing the waste of money mods such as I/H/E without other NA mods, i think i want to just boost it.

BUT

1. the car HAS to be reliable. I.E. has to start and drive my fat *** to work every day.
2. the turbo kit must still be able to retain AC. i hate being hot.
3. must be in-expensive. im not talking like cheap cheap, but i have my fully built 525whp 240 for a fun car. so the civic is my daily, but needs a litte more pep, and racing slower cars is alot more fun. more people to race.

so for a reilably boosted stock motor'd car, what can be done?? i was told to get the greddy kit, but its like 3k, and for 3k i would want more than 230whp. if i could do 250 or so i think i would be perfectly happy. that would be mid 12's or lower with me driving it. also would prolly black out the fmic to keep the sleeper look to it. so it seems as a stock civic.

i dunno bout cheap....but u can still keep a.c.....

 

as in any turbo car..the reliability is all in the tune, but i'm assuming you know that since you have a 500hp car already. i guess you could piece your kit together, i hear the drag manifolds do the job ok.

 

find someone selling a used greddy kit. then add an intercooler and bov (if not included in the kit), get it tuned, and you should be good to go for considerably less than 2,000

 

its definately doable. You can buy a used turbo kit, like a greddy, which will let you keep your AC. Or you can piece together a kit which will be cheep also and will be upgradable unlike the greddy

 

any certain manifolds?? i hear drag is nice as above, but dunno about any others

 

I have an inlinepro cast stainless manifold that's AC compatible. Had to do some fancy work on the downpipe for it to clear, but it's very do-able.

 

the inline pro manifolds are much better than drag

 

Blox is another company that makes/made AC compatible manifolds. Either way, they're cast pieces, so they're pretty tough.
About the only problem I had with my inlinepro is that I had to install a 90* elbow so I could use my wastegate with a boost controller. The fitting that screws into the top would hit my hood support otherwise.
