honda doesnt charge for getting the code. they charge only to remove your radio to get the radio serial number. (they assume you dont know how to get the code, hence they say they charge you for the service, which is only for the removal of your radio)

pull your radio out write down the serial number, and get your code from the dealership for free.

(this has been discussed thousands of time)

I called my dealer and gave them the serial number over the phone. They gave me the code on the phone no questions asked what so ever.

Yes, I think it's safe to say they're idiots.

Have your mechanic call it in.

I called from my boss's phone (and used the title of the garage and everything since it's a registered garage) - gave them the VIN # and they gave me the code.

You could go to the dealership and give them proof that you own the car (title and registration), proof that you're you (driver's license or passport), and the serial number/Vin# and they should definitely give you a code that'll work.

Now if that's NOT the OEM radio obviously they can't match it by VIN #, so just tell your mechanic to call Honda and b/c he's a registered car fixing shop (yeah that sounds really gay, I know) they'll give him the code with just the serial #.

All I had to do was give them the VIN # but I had the original OEM radio in the car so it didn't matter.

not flaming your thread, bud, but..... your not the first with this problem. if your local honda dealer will only charge you for this service, i would suggest these other options which are very common sense and you could have had your code today but you would rather spend the day on the boards.. now you have to wait until tuesday to get it.

1. call another states honda dealership, if you talk with the parts manager and let them know your out of state because noone near you wants to help you, you will get the code over the phone. (you have free minutes on your phone im sure making some calls wont hit your pockets too much)

call them. and when the secretary answers let her know you need to talk to the service manager and that your an outofstate honda owner needing immediate help with getting a radio code. due to your local honda dealership not wanting to help you.

2. you can search the radio/alarms section, there is someone who works at honda that has his own thread about posting your serial numbers and him pming you the code. its in the archive i would assume since this has been discussed for years.

3. you opt to pay and get the code on ebay, or other website.

hopefully you will let this thread dies its impending death and make some phone calls. remember today is sat. tomorrow is sunday, monday is christmas ... nobody will be helping you prior to tuesday so you might as well call another dealership on tuesday. it only makes sense...
