Default REMOVED AC - DO I LEAVE THE BOX UNDER DASH IN CAR????????????

Hi guys removed ac today.

All lines etc up to behing the battery tray.

Do I leave the box under the dash still in car and plug up the holes behind battery tray?

How will the heating work now?

What do I do with the ac wiring. Tape it up? will this throw any check lights?

Thanks in advance

i removed my ac not long ago and asked the same questions your asking now. keep the box under ur dash if u wish to keep ur heater. if you removed everything correctly then you should throw a cel. i left those extra lines under the battery tray didnt seem like it was doing any harm.

You are refering to the Evaporator. If you have already taken the A/C out why not finish the job? It fairly simple and the evaporator weighs a couple of pounds so you are going to have some weight loss.

The Evaporator is surrounded by a plastic shell. Once removed you can put the shell back together and still have your heating system operate properly. You will have to seal the spot that goes thru the firewall and drain tube. Duct tape works great.

Plus you can take the Evaporator to a recycling center and get a couple of cents for it!

When I removed my a/c everything came out.

The evaporator case was replaced with a duct from a cx model hatch that came with no a/c shown here #8

As for the hole in the bulkhead, #16 here also comes on the non a/c equipped models.

Works out for a pretty clean removal like it was never there. The duct was around $30 and that plug is like $5.

NO, nothing in the ECU is looking for any type of signal from ANY a/c component.

well, they do see a clutch signal, but it wont throw a CEL.

just a random ? I had, but how much weight do you actually loose by removing the AC components?

I don't know about honda but I know on ford lincoln mercury you will get a cel for ac compressor clutch and for evaporator temp.

yeah, the new fords you will, the ecu actually uses variables to determine compressor drive time, so it will throw a code if you remove the compressor and turn the a/c on.

No it wont. It throws the code during a multi-plexed network test. Basically all of the modules in the ford vehicles are networked together. During a network test every circuit in the car is tested. When the FEM cannot communicate with the compressor clutch and the condensor temp sensor it stores a code. When a code is stored in one module every module in the car knows. When the PCM finds out it sets a cel.

I'm a tech for lincoln mercury, i've done this a few times.

So basically if I leave the evaporator under dash and just put some tape over the holes by the back of battery tray everything will still work and show no cel?

I might want to put my ac back in summers so I guess I will leave the evaporator in the car.

I just wanted to make sure I can plug up the holes behind battery tray.

Is the clutch signal for it to make sure yor clutch is in before it starts?
