Default Cost of your LS-T or B20-T

Hey guys I just got my first Civic. To give you guys my history I've owned (2) Accords, both with H22A. One JDM H22A with LSD & One USDM H22A. Both we good motors that I enjoyed driving. My homie @ work sold me his EG Hatch for $1500.00 and now i'm trying to decide whether to go with a JDM GSR or LS-T or B20-T.

My question for you guys is what sort money did you spend to get your LS-T or B20-T? I know it sounds dumb and I did a search and couldn't find anything
Thanks in advance for any input

First things first, How much money are you willing to spend, and how long do you want the setup to last. Without that info pricing could range from 1500-5k

Well the good thing is that I have access to an intercooler, all my intercooler piping, silicone couplers, v-band clamps and all the little accesory stuff...!!!

I'm trying to stay in the $2500-3000 range....Will swap in the motor and do the wiring on my own. Will send out the piping to get bent...!!!! Then get my homie from Teknotik (Nick) to tune the bitch....

Or you can go cheaper

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by lilintegra25 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">575 log manifold dump tube and down pipe---used or cast for half the price
520 t3/to4e turbo...easy to find $400 or cheaper with very little miles
200 intercooler
200- wastgate...used tials all around for $150
200- bov
175- intercooler piping...alot cheaper if you have a welder
90- oil line return kit
200-440rc injectors with clips...used cheaper
450- hondata s200b...tune with uberdata or crome and save $$
50- p75 ecu
100- obd1 ecu harness....$50 or less used
100-aem fpr ....if your using 440cc injectors, dont waste the $
90- walbaro fuel pump

thats 3k !!!
plus install and tune!</TD></TR></TABLE>

I was a idiot and didnt shop around my first time. I also bought all new parts when I could have went into the classifieds here and saved about a grand or more. Including a clutch, exhaust, and the things he didnt mention I spent about $4000 not including tune on my first setup. Obviously I learned and will be making alot more HP with alot less money spend (well more money spent, but going towards internals as well)

b20 sleeves are the thinnest of all b series sleeves. so they tend to fold under pressure

I hate the spreading of bad information. If you dont know for sure, and have a source to back it up, dont post. The only reason I chose to reply is the fact that I know that B20 sleeves are actually THICKER then the rest of the B series sleeevs. This was verified when Jeff, founder of HMT measured them himself when he built his CRVTEC. The B20 sleeves were 9mm and the other stock B series engines he had around were 7mm. The reason why the tend to crack is because people dont run a decent tune on them and its supposedly the weakest part of that motor. The single simeese cast design is the so called flaw in these engines. I ran 15 -18psi for over a year on my DD CRX pushed by a T3/T4 57trim 63ar. and never had an issue with it. The B20 tends to make more trq. then most LS setups because of a lil bit bigger bore. If you have a decent tune and good fuel management, you can run a B20 and not have any problems.

JDMSleeper knows of a few people running stock B20s high CR NA and with juice as well as boost and not having any issues as well. He might of changed his name I tho? Not sure...

Blaze

That tells all you need to know about B20 sleeves. While they may be "thicker," they're still thinner from cylinder to cylinder. Still a very poor sleeve design.

To the OP - shop around. I've picked up LS swaps for ~800 bucks. You just have to find a good deal, shop around a bit.

Also, your turbo kit doesn't need all this high priced stuff. If your buddy can weld, buy a DIY log kit. Find a used turbo. Intercoolers from Ebay work just fine, and they'll get you boosted. If you're wanting to boost on a budget, I hope you take some time at look on HMT a bit. To date, it contains the best DIY atmosphere of any automotive forum.

After reading this forum for years, and finally being able to put together a kit, i've learned to shop around and be patient. So far i have this:

Fabworks log manifold and 3" DP
Spoolin Intercooler pipes
Garrett T3/T4 57trim .48a/r
JRC 6" intercooler
Greddy Type-S BOV
3" Kteller exhaust w/ Magnaflow 3" muffler
McMaster Oil Lines (~$46 for everything)
Greddy Timer
GE vaccuum manifold
autometer oil press., boost gauges
boost controller

With this I'm at a smudge over $1400. Basically need my fuel setup, a wastegate, and some tuning.

The great thing is that I can get a ACT clutch for pretty cheap and I can get the exhaust no probs cause the company I work for specializes in aftermarket exhaust components

USED PARTS
DSM 450s and BOV
HKS Boost gauge
Log manifold
Tial Wastegate
FMIC
Garrett T3/T04B 50 trim
About 600

NEW PARTS
AEM Gauge-type UEGO 260
Walbro 255 100

Then I spent about another 2500 on other new parts like catch can, oil lines, gauges, gaskets, fittings, hoses, hardware etc., and on the install, including custom IC piping, exhaust, and alot of miscellaneous TIG welding.

That's about 3500 without tuning cost figured in. Looking back I could've probably gone alittle more ghetto on some of the stuff and saved at least a grand.

And I went into this thinking it would be cheaper than going LS/VTEC

I'm only shooting for about 200whp right now. Don't know which can handle more power between B20 and B18B, but I believe there is more potential in my setup than with a NA b18 vtec setup.

Oh and I'm planning on having to replace the clutch within a month or 2 of getting it tuned. BTW, how long does it take to replace a clutch?

yea, and to think i went in to this build with a $4000 budget and im still not done yet after spending about $8k. the car is gonna be daily driven so i wanted to do a crazy overbuild to keep problems minimal. and there are still things that im gonna buy but i just dont have the cash for right now such as:
rsx hub/axle conversion
moroso oil pan
3" electric cutout
aem ems
buddy club p1 suspension
crower turbo cams
and some other stuff too

anyone care to donate to the cause? 8]

not trying to go to wild! I'm look to get about 270hp to 320hp @ the wheels. It's going to be a daily driver and a weekend drag/fun car....
