Default 92 b17a1 gsr rebuild

ok well im getting a 92 gsr with 100,000 miles on it and well im thinking about rebuilding it. iv searched and found a couple threads on rebuilding the b17. im planning on keeping it since the motor is rare to find and there were only i think 3500 made???? now back to the rebuild i found a site that has a rebuild kit with

Complete Gasket Set
Cometic Head Gasket
Wiseco Pistons (your choice)
(#K542M81, .81mm, 9.2-1)
(#K542M815, 81.5mm, 9.2-1)
(#K566M81, 81.5mm, 11-1)
(#K566M815, 81.5mm, 11-1)
(#K566M82, 82mm, 9.2-1)
(81, 81.5, 82mm, 10.0-1, 10.5-1
Performance Rings
Performance Wrist Pins
TOGA HP Main Bearings
TOGA HP Rod Bearings
Thrust Washers
Timing Belt
Expansion Plugs

for $989 is that a good deal? and a good rebuild kit?

im trying to get around 175-200 hp out of it at least.

do you guys have any suggestions on what i should do? i know the basics. i just want some suggestions to go buy. i had a 92 ls so i im new with the vtec part. so guys put in your suggestions to help me out thnx.

at 100k I seriously doubt your going to need to replace the pistons.

Make a friend at your local stealership, get replacement color coded OE bearings, OE rings and gaskets.

Honda knew what they were doing - just try not to pay out the nose for it

with only 100k, chances are that the motor's still in great shape. unless there's something noticeably wrong with it, don't bother rebuilding it. replace the timing belt, water pump, and maybe plugs and wires.

Do a compression test to see the condition of your engine. If you get good numbers relatively close to each other, then save your money and do regular maintenance. Then start your research on performance parts.

The kit you posted includes forged pistons, which you really don't need. Even if you decide you want to rebuild, research and buy your parts seperately for quality and price advantage.

Over 300K miles here without a rebuild, and doing well, still get 32 mpg.

buy a quaife LSD. Fix the grinding gear(s). Do a compression test. Do a timing belt, water pump, tensioner. Dist. Cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs.

Bolt on parts: AEM Cold Air Intake, Headers of your choice, exhaust. Lower it with ground control coilovers and tokico illumina 5-way adjustable shocks or koni yellows if you want. PBR Ultimate pads, bleed the brakes good and go drive and have a **** load of fun with your new car.

I gonna be blunt. That rebuild kit you mentioned contains McShit. Toga? Sounds like a Toda ripoff to me. Only use OE Honda bearings. The head gasket and pistons are good, though.

the pump will fit. the belt wont. you need a b16 belt.

b16, b17, B18c5 timing belts are all the same as far as a I know. I'm using a B17 belt on my B16 and its works great.

As for the ITR Oil pump I dont think it will work because it's OBD2 and ur car is OBD1.

no im sure the itr oil pump will work cause i was goin to do lsvtec and it is obd-1 but that has nothing to do with the oil pump i believe the itr oil pump fits any b-series?? but i know the belts i thought you have to have the same pump for it? maybe im incorrect.

all b series vtec pumps have 22 teeth. you need a b16 belt because it's the correct length. b18c belts would be too long.

b16/17 belts are shorter than b18c belts.

try some gm syncromesh first and see if that helps the problem. if not you're likely looking at a rebuild which is costly.

when I bought my 92 GSR it had 121,xxx on it. 3rd gear had a slight grind in high rpms. Put in Pennzoil synchromesh and it never grinded ever again. I mean it NEVER grinded again. That stuff is amazing.
