Default Switching Driver and Passenger seats

Everyone knows that the driver seats always wear out and tear right at the seam. Several people suggest putting a passenger seat on the driver side. I thought switching the pans might work, but the tab that goes through the seat would be on the wrong side. I also thought just swapping the rails, but once again it isnt a perfect bolt up... Has anyone done this, and it is there anyway to do it without cutting and welding on the pans?? Thanks.
