a JDM one.
Intake, schmintake.
You're really splitting hairs when you ask that question. AEM, Comptech, J's, ARC, K&N in the stock box, all will make about the same power. There can be differences in throttle response, but honestly, people waste a lot of money on intake systems. They really aren't all that important.

Be careful in your choice, since I haven't really seen any dynamic testing of CAIs. Picking one over another because of dyno numbers could be mis leading. Most people dyno with their hood open and just a fan blowing on the front of the car. I've said this before with headers, the best tests are the simple real world tests where you time the car in an acceleration run on the street between 3000-8000 or some other range you like. But the bottom line is that intakes will all function differently going down the road/track at 60/80/100 mph then they will sitting on the dyno.
Yep, honestly just get a good flowing filter and supply it with cool air. That is really all you need. You are just talking about 1 or 2 hp at most.
Just to add to SMSP I just have a simple short ram intake on now. What I have found is that as long as you are moving at descent amount of speed the filter remains fairly cool to the touch. If your car sits at idle or sits for a while after you turn it off the filter/pipe will get hot. So during normail driving I believe a cheap short ram is fine for the average driver.

oem with spoon filter
Just get a filter. I don't care what anyone on this board that's 100 times smarter than me says. I'm not going to be convinced that it really matters which one you get. No intake increases air flow that much more than another one.
(Although I've heard GSR's get stupid gains from CAI's)

Intakes, especially CAI's for the ITR Do Not provide the staggering gains as they do on the other Tegs. As a matter of fact the ITR's stock intake is of a CAI design and just adding a High Flow filter is a very good mod. May owners do just that and concentrate on other Aspects of the ITR's performance. Educate yourself about the different intake styles and their benefits and handicaps.
I also agree with Dave's"SMSP's" post. It may be wonderful on a dyno and just not do it for you on the road or track. The Real world is a different place, and Daily, we don't Just drive between 7 and 8,400K all the time for peak gains. At least we shouldn't.
I've had the AEM/CAI but, I am currently running the Comptech Icebox = nice gains and little worries. They are both different in design and gains, I chose the one that fit my needs the best.
Good luck,
A.
PS I'd get a header and HF cat for more gains first.
