If you like unnecessary features and ugly wheels...

No, it really comes down to what you want in a car. Most purists would not say that the 2007 is the best year

IMO, I think everything up to 2005 is good, not so much after. next summer im going to try and pick up a white or black 2004 or 2005.

I personally like the 05 model year the best. I like the seats better and it just seems more of a sports car since it doesnt have that stability control deal and drive by wire.

lmao...gotta love these silly generic "best" S2000 threads, hahaha.

The best S2000 was from 1987...and honda actually didnt make it, Mayflower Blenders did, and it makes a mean margarita!

The spring rates and anti-roll bar diameters were changed (softer IIRC), and again for 04+.

On the '06 there's a button to disable the (VSAR) traction control, so what's the big deal with that? It makes the car safer to be driven in the rain, and then it can be disabled for spirited drives. I think the seats are excellent, and the new steering wheel is great. You also have 4 integrated roll bar speakers.

The thing that really stinks in the 06 (maybe 04 and 05 too?) is the clutch delay valve. But it can be taken out in 1 hour, or you can pay someone about $40 or $50 to do it.

Having a button for traction stability is perfect for those who wish to daily drive AND have a little fun in the sun (or wet...doesn't matter).

Since any changes were made beginning back on 2002, all changes that have been made suit different people's needs. That's what Honda is all about; catching the eye of a big crowd.

I've only driven a 2003 and my 2004, and it's a love-hate relationship. My 04 feels peppier at first because of the slight displacement advantage and gear ratio change. But nothing screams sporty then a 2.0L at 9k rpm.

I would like to go for a drive in a 2006 and 2007 and see how they compare as far as interior comfort and sport feel (esp. w/ the drive-by-wire which I HATE in my Fit).

Margarita's are for sissy's.

Give me a slightly chilled scotch or whiskey any day.

hahaha. True true of so very true.

IMO the best years for s2000's are:

2002-2003 AP1

2004-2005 AP2

IMO there is no such thing as "the best year" it all comes to personal preference. i can go ahead and break down the changes as best i can remember.

00-01
carpet console
plastic rear window
no defroster
weak stereo with no tweeters
large two port banjo bolts
stiffest suspension

02-03
leather console
glass window window with defroster
weak stero with tweeters
mal four port banjo bolts(better oil dispertion/cooling)
slightly softer suspension

04-05
complete facelift
new console and radio cover
slightly less shitty stereo
displacment upped to 2.2
redline dropped to 8250 or 8500(cant remember)
even softer suspension
clutch delay

06-07
different wheels again
different console again
softest suspension
dbw
clutch delay again

basically 00-01 are for the purists
02-03 are for the smart people
04-05 are for my mom
06-07 are for my grandparents and people who can't drive

have fun
