Default In need of some D-series guru advice

I have a 91 hatch std that i already did the mpfi swap on, It has d16a6 and si tranny.I think the motor is in need of rebuild. I am not new to hondas but new to the sohc motors. There are so many options to go with on these motors, Dohc zc, Sohc vtec y6 y8, sohc zc, mini me or stick with a d16a6. I want to go turbo, Maybe not right away but in the future.I know that the dohc zc and the sohc vtec are all close in power output and the d16a6 is the weakest of the bunch.
When it comes to boost I can not decide what I should do. Should I swap in a more powerful for now stock dohc zc or sohc vtec and go low boost later? Or take the money I would spend on the new engine and build-up the A6(rods & pistons) and turbo it later on and be able to turn up the boost a little. Which scenario would make the better more powerful motor in the long run.??? Before a bunch of you go hollering SEARCH, I did and I did not find what I was looking for.

boosted DOHC ZC ftw!

u can find a cheap *** zc and then put your l3 too that put evrything backtogether.plus u can build your own kit for less then what u can buy one at.just serach around and read about diff d-series set-ups and make your own choice.cause i know there be a few people say do b16 swap.

i think you would end up paying more for a rebuild then buying a dohc zc , which alot of people have boosted.

Buy pistons and rods for your a6. Rebuild that motor and run it for a wile wile you build or save for your turbo kit. then you will be faster than a stock bottom zc because you will be able to run a decent abount of boost.

If you run more than 10psi on that stock bottom zc its a matter of time, unless you have an AWSOME tune and its not a street car.

You will have peace of mind knowing that you have a forged bottom end that you know will hold up. The lower compression you run the eaiser it will be to tune (to an extent) It wont make as much power as the same setup with a little more compression. but if the car is a street car and your tuner isnt a stud i would recomend around 8.5:1

Thanks for the input. I can get a dohc ZC at a place in North Carolina for $750, This place has a good rep. And I think they offer a 6 mounth 6k mile warranty. Does that sound like a fair price? Then again from the prices that I have seen on EBAY I can get some decent forged rods and pistons for the D16a6 for around the same price. Damn decisions are tough.
