I've been running AutoZone brake pads for over 5 years now. Never had any problems. They usually last me 30K-50K miles.

plus they give you a lifetime warranty with them! Once you buy one pair you never have to buy them again, and there 28 bucks! But if your going for stopping power check out some Hawks!

Have you actually tried going to the store and pulling that off? Won't they give you a dirty look and try to say that you need to learn how to brake properly?

I'm running the Axxis/PBR Ultimates all around. Better than stock brakes, but they dust heavier. To me, the better stopping performance is worth it on the streets.
I have Axxis Metal Masters on the front with Autozone rear pads on my other car. I like the Autozone pads because they produce less dust.

I have. I went in there with old worn out brake pads and got a brand new set, no questions asked (with my old receipt of course).

I actually thought there was less dust compared to my factory pads for my application.
Guess it depends on application.

Softer pads should wear quicker, just like softer tires wear quicker. Both tires and brake pads rely on friction to function properly, and the softer the compound is rubbing against a harder surface, the quicker it's going to wear away.

And some performance pads need to heat up before gripping better, making stock replacement pads better for casual city driving, whatever that is.
I looked at the lifetime warranty and asked the parts guy, "do you really replace them when they wear out?". He said they only replace them if there is a factory defect, not if they wear out under normal conditions.

usually the rears last alot longer than the fronts.
don't forget to get your rotors re-surfaced, or just buy new rotors at autozone (fairly cheap). New pads on worn rotors will make the new pads wear out very quickly, and possible un-evenly (ask me how I know

I'm one of those cases in which the rear pads have worn faster than the front. This has happened to me twice so far.

i'm running ebc greenstuff with powerslot slotted and must say that i enjoy how well they break, its a complete different feel from stock for me, but the autozone pads should work pretty good and if they have the lifetime replacement that is even better

Your rear parking brakes might be adjusted too tight, or maybe you put on new pads w/o resurfacing the rotors? Either thing can cause the rears to wear faster than the fronts.
I also had a set of rear pads that wore out before the fronts, and I'm pretty sure it was because I didn't replace or resurface the rear rotors when I put on the new pads.

sorry if its a stupid question, but is there a way i can visually check my brake pads to see if its the front or rears that need to be replaced??
the previous owner had brand new rotors put on when i got the car about 3000 miles ago, which reminds me i need a oil change too. he didnt change the brake pads though

yikes, that was dumb, you'll have to get those rotors resurfaced even though they are nearly new since he put them on w/ the old brake pads.
You can look through the wheel spokes (if it's open enough) and see the friction material on the pads where it contacts rotor. You should be able to see if there's alot left or not.
