Default HELP WITH MY 87 CRX SI!!!!!

hello all! my rex is acting up. ill go to drive and when i stop or let off the gas the idle drops and the car dies. it only does this every so often but its a daily occurance. also i noticed that while at idle in my driveway it will idle very low and rough and almost die. and if i pump the brake the idle goes up to normal until i stop pumping the brake. its friggin wierd. when im in my drive way at idle it wont die though its only when i drive. any suggestions? comments? help? im kind of at a loss. thanks alot.

I won't be able to help you since I am new to all this, but it's nice to see a 1g/3g on this forum. 3g Civic Si here.

Whats up man? I drive a 85 crx with a full fuel injection swap from an 87 si crx. I t sounds to me like you might either have a vacuum leak or something is wrong with your electrical system. Does the vehicle start up fine? Does your idle jump when the vehicle is not moving or is it just idleing low? Maybe if you could be a little more thorough with the problem and what it is doing I could help you out. First gen for life!

well i have to mess with the ignition switch like push up or down on the key while i turn it and even then it takes a couple tries to start it and when i hooked up a battery charger is was drawing like 6 amps which is bad. and once it was charging the car would start on a dime. so i think it might need an alternator. no the idle doesnt jump but sometimes on start up it will idle slightly high or normal but once i step on the pedal it goes low and rough.

Well, if you have to pump the brakes to kill the rough idle, I'd look at vacuum line to the brake booster. or the brake booster itself. Somewhere, there is vacuum being lost.

BTW, if it's a manual, you can always push start it. It's fun to do buy yourself, it makes it more of a challenge.
