car overheating. please help.
97 civic stock single cam motor. My car had been overheating so i went ahead and removed the thermostat. That didn't work, still overheating. Fan turns on just fine. Top hose is always boiling hot. There are no leaks that i can see when i fill it up with coolant, yet the radiator will be pretty empty by the next 2 days or so. After i fill it with coolant and water the car stays cool for about half a day, after that it heats up badly. Could this be a clog somewhere? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Most likely a head gasket issue. If it's not leaking on the ground, it's probably going out the tailpipe. You could also have a high pressure leak too. You may want to get it pressure tested.

Well, the cooling system needs coolant to funtion properly. If the coolant is disapearing, the engine will run hotter. You need to determine where the coolant is going. As previously mentioned, it may be a blown head gasket, unless you have an external leak you haven't detected yet.

I really hope it isn't a blown head gasket.. when you guys mention "external leak" what exactly are you guys referring to? How can i check for an external leak? And what's a quick way to check for a blown head gasket? Any other suggestions as of why my car might be overheating? As weird as this may sound, sometimes it leaks and sometimes it doesn't. True story. (from the bottom of the radiator where the bottom hose is.

Well now, there is your external leak. Honestly, I don't know why you keep asking about this problem when you have all the evidence and answers.
