Default H22 tranny swap

I have a f23 engine with a manual transmission in my accord but the gear are so long is it possible for me to replace the stock tranny with a h22 tranny. Would it be a direct bolt on what would i need to do as far as installation.

It doesn't matter what year the H series trans comes from. In the next week I plan on swapping my F23 auto to a built H23 5spd. The only thing that's still not 100% confirmed is the VSS. Some people say use the H one some say use the F one. I'll find out soon.

you use the H22 tranny VSS to keep the speed vs speedo correct. thats is how i have mine done and been that way for the last 2 years. it is also a direct swap.

this is on my 6th gen i4 5spd

the only thing that I have found different. is the mount for the tranny is different from the prelude to the accord. So sometimes you have to tap the holes that are already there so the tranny lines up with the new mount. it really isnt that hard.

There are several people saying that the speedo is off a little if you use the H VSS, but I have both and I'll confirm which one is correct in several days.

i meant the F23 tranny VSS is the one to use, not the H22 tranny VSS.

I took the car for a drive for the first time today and the speedo is off. I'll swap in the H series VSS tomorrow and give that a try. I'll post an update later.

yes theres is quite a bit of difference felt.
each gear you'll bump the rev-limiter after getting 25mph out of each gear. 1st bumps @25, 2nd @50, 3rd @75, 4th @100, 5th @?125?------>haven't gotten to max 5th out yet, once ur around 100mph u start to run out of gearing.

in 5th @80mph i'm @4,000rpms. 60mph @3,000rpms. but i also can cruise in 5th going 25-30mph too. u will loose gas mileage, but the trade off was worth it for me. i can't wait till i'm boosted again.

preludes, rsx type s and other 4bangers(NA) from a slow roll they don't pull away! but once i run out of gearing it is bound to happen. with the F23 tranny they just walk all over me, but with the playing field more even.....me having shorter gearing just like them, it surprises them why they can't walk away from me anymore.

btw i'm using the H22 jdm non-lsd tranny.

Would a automatic 96-97 prelude tranny directly bolt-on to a 96-97 F22B1 ? I've searched EVERYWHERE and can't find anything !

Well I have a chance to score a auto prelude tranny for cheap for my F22B1, which is also a AUTO. Would there be any difference in performance ?

Use the Accord mount no matter which transmission.

But maybe a lightweight flywheel and a short shifter will give you the feel your looking for instead?

So having an h22a bolted up to an f23a tranny is a horrible combination or what?

alot of guys bitch about it becuase the gearing is so high in the accord tranny.. but i personally like it... its a challenge with a 8lb flywheel and stage 3 clutch and i love it. to each his own i guess.
