Default $5 Sent Via Paypal to the person that finds my problem out!

i getting desperate now the winter here is damn cold and i need to drive again lol!

the person that gives me the info that fixes my problem gets $5 via paypal!

basically this is the story,

blew my old d16z6 up - replaced it with another d16z6. used the old tranny and shafts ect.

got the swap in and it starts, drove the car to a local shop to get the tracking done. was driving fine until all of a sudden the revs dont die. If i put the car in nutural the car still revs (at about 3k at the time).

so i carry on driving to the shop having to kill the car every time i stop at lights ect for fear of ******* my new engine!

when i started the car up again the revs would still be at 3k, i then carried on driving and was driving up to 4k revs. then the car sticks a 4k revs when idle. the car still pulls like the engine is revving high when in gear.

after leaving the car for about 1 hour the revs idle normal, give the engine a slight rev... it happens all over again

any ideas people!!

make sure you bled your coolant the correct way, make sure the vent is on heat when you refill it.

take off your IACV and clean it with some throttle body cleaner

make sure your vacuum hoses are all plugged up and there are no leaks in the throttle body or intake manifold

i'm thinking it's coolant related or IACV.

maybe it's something simple like your throttle cable is too tight or it's catching on something.

Check your throtle body.. sounds like it's just sticking... force it closed. then see if it does the same thing.

If it's idleing fine, grease the throtle return... where the cable twists the throttle body open and closed.

good luck

I know a fella with the same problem but on his gsr swapped civic. He said something about a coolant hose leak. I'll see if he's figured it out.

its on the back of the intake manifold near the firewall, can't miss it, it's a cylindrical looking thing held onto the intake manifold by 2 "12's"

thinking about it there is a small leak coming from a hole in the engine (looks like a bolt should be in it) at the bottom of the plastic cam gear cover.

That sounds like the weep hole for the water pump and if it is you will need to replace the water pump. To bad you didn't do that and the timing belt when the engine was out of the car

you say its cold? make sure your coolant hoses are correctly hooked up, replace PCV valve and oil filter.... oil filter and PCV valve fixed my exact same problem. Then deep creep the crap outta the TB..

actually deep creep the Throttle body 1st, then change oil/filter/PCV valve. and fix that leak

I'd say the "donut" in the Thermo idle control valve (or whatever the heck it's called) has backed out. It's under the throttle body. Easiest way to get to it is pull the TB off and it's the piece that has either 1 or 2 coolant lines hooked to it. Remove the 2 8 mm screws that hold the metal cover on. When you pull the cover off, see if the donut will screw in. If it moves at all, use 2 straight screwdrivers to screw it in as far as you can. Put it back together and make sure your coolant is full. Start the car and see what happens when you get up to operating temp.

Doesn't sound like the IACV or FITV.

I'm in agreement for throttle body - check it. Sounds like your butterfly is sticking.

(BTW: If that's what it is I do not want any money of any kind as I'm just not into that **** - it's a tech forum, should be used to help people for free - there's no charge, that's just gay :-\)

Could also be a raging boner of a vacuum leak.

the answer to your problem is ( My cousins car had the same problem) Your throttle cable is toooooooo tight. Thats why when you accelerate it stays at whatever rpm you left it at. And if you put your foot under the accelerator pedal and pull up it will bring the rpms down again.

Trust me just loosen the nut by the intake manifold where you can adjust the throttle cable and call it a day.

keep your 5 bux.
