so check this out!.....i grab my cousing last night to help me get my zc motor running (bought a car that has a zc in it, it was not running, turning over but not starting).. before i had even got out of my car he installed the battery BACKWARDS!!!!! i now have no power to anything....did he blow the ecu? i have power to the starter...and the hazards in the fuse box... im so pissed! any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

Well for one install it correctly. Now, check the fuse under the hood to the ECU. I beleive it's a 10amp one, check with the fuse cover as for location. Remove it, inspect it, replace if necessary. As for not starting, check for spark (dizzy) fuel (pump/injectors) and compression. If the engine cranks over it more then likely has compression. If it just spins really fast and doesn't actually make that cranking noise, then she's a dud engine. To check for spark, simply pull the wire for cylinder 1 and have someone crank it over. If no spark check the dizzy for a blown ignitor or module. If you have spark you have no fuel. Check to make sure the fuel pump kicks in, if not replace the main relay, if so, check to see if the injectors flow.

Anywyas check all the fuses probably blew one of the big ones in the engine bay fuse box...

Yeah just reinstall the battery and check all your fuses. If it smells like burnt anything in your engine bay or cabin you'll have to start scouring your wiring harnesses for damage. And yes, make sure you have your cousin help all the way and then shove a sharp stick in his eye when it runs again.

after the fuses of course.

 

More than likely its just a fuse because what are they made for to prevent further damage.
