Default Type R Detuning

please dont interrogate me on why i am planning on doing this. i have my own LEGAL reasons for this. i dont support street racing nor am i planning on scamming anybody. its for personal gain, and personal gain only.

now, lets step outside the box for this. we all know that tuning is important to achieve max power and mpg.

what i am interested in is to achieve least power. the following questions come to mind.

1. how retarded could the timing go and still be safe and not risk a engine blow?

2. how will a non vtec 7k redline retarded timing type r feel against a b16? what about ls?

my goal is simply to detune the engine so it feels like **** power wise without blowing her up. i know my request is idiotic but please respect it as a fellow honda enthusiast.

if you have nothing beneficial to say, please keep it to yourself.

I don't think many people know the answer to this as I don't think anyone has tried this before.

I'm curious as to WHY you're doing this... A simple explanation will help you out with a question like this.

disabling VTEC will definitely make the car feel like crap. retard the timing back to 14. over tighten the valve lash. run 87 octane. youll be well on your way to a real slow POS.

DO not run the car on 87 it will eventually damage it...What i would do is turn back your timing a little the put a tornado inside of the intake pipe....put a 1 3/4 test pipe or cat...and modify it so it can bolted and unbolted....Seems like someone is doing a little street racing hustle for next weekend...haha..I am sure if the vtec isnt working the person will know exactly whats wrong and easily plug that shiet in...unless they truly believe your a nukin dumbass and truly think that your car is a champ.

so will 14 deg, 6k-7k redline, no vtec be slow enough to compete with stock ls and b16s?

I know you said you don't want to say why you are doing this, but it's more likely to get thoughtful answers if you give people a clue what the "legitimate" reason is that you want to do this.

I cannot see these guys helping much with undoing the tuning if you don't give them a clue what's going on.

Sorry.

Just unplug your o2 sensors, throw the car in limp mode.

Man, if you want to make it seem "legitimately" slow, you need a restriction in the intake. It'll idle fine, it'll do vtec, but it'll be slow and rich at WOT. Easy way to take off 50-100 HP.

Dump a 1/4 cup of sand into your intake manifold. It will drastically lower your compression and you'll lose bags of hp. No CEL's, no blown engine and vtec will work. All of your criteria are met.

Just put a rubber block or spacer under your gas pedal. Make it so that it doesnt allow 100% travel, restrict it to about 60%. This will prevent your car from achieving higher RPMs, thus preventing VTEC activation.

It'll feel hard, a little supple, but firm.

This isn't the first time I've seen this exact thread subject. But I agree with EK-Chris, put a block under the gas pedal, problem solved. No need to mess with anything under the hood.
