Default HELP NEEDED:Turboing a b16/gsr with 12:1 compression

Ok well here is my dilemma. I have a b16a2 head with a build b18c1 bottom end. THe block has eagle pistons and rods with a "type r" crank. And its got 12:1 compression.
I have been told by a few people that i cannot turbo that engine setup because of too high compression and it will push out too much exhaust and it will just burn up turbos. Then on the other hand i have been told that i can do it i just have to run the turbo at like 4-6 pounds of boost.

WHat im working with:
B16A2 Head: Cams and thats it
B18C1 Block: Eagle pistons and rods 12:1 compression, "type r" crank.
Walbro 255 fuel pump
450CC injectors
aem fuel rail
57 trim turbo kit
full rs-r exhaust
msd spark components
intake mani
and other stuff

I have been told to just trade my block for a ls block with the same kind of mods but like 9:1 compression. And just use like 14 lbs of boost. Then on the flip side of that ive been told that ls/vtec turbo swaps usually dont last longer then a year without things going wrong. Ive read up on both and i would just like some input from people that know more then me which is not too hard to do. Thanks agian

u'd need real low boost and burning turbo's will be the least of your worry. You would also pre-detonate and soon goodbye motor. We'll atleast you can build it with low c/r pistons

you'll need one major thing...A VERY good tuner.

Why dont you just bring that compression ratio down a little and let the boost come up? Whoever tunes your setup is probabally going to suggest that.

if you dont get tuning right the first try your gonna have a pile of scrap metal, but it is possible

Do you like your motor? If you want to boost drop that CR

Yeah its a bad idea to turbo it on 12:1 and run boost that low. You gain more power from more boost than from more compression. And it would be a mistake to get rid of your b16 when you already got money invested. Id sugesst lowering the comp ratio and then boost. Oh and i believe that LS/VTEC motors are just as reliable as any as long as you build and use it right, I think that alot of people rev their ls/vtec's to much and that is what goes wrong.
