Default Quick question on ITR Tranny's 96-97 VS 98-01

I have found a couple ITR transmissions both localy and on the net. They all have LSD stamped on them and then there is another 3 digit code. If I am correct the code J4D is for the 96-97 model years and the N3E is for the 98+ which will have the 4.785 final drive in it. Is this correct?

Thanx much

That sounds right to the best of my knowledge.....obviously all the US specs are the J4D w/ the 4.4 final drive.

I thought the USDM 96's and 97's had the 4.4 finals, and the 98 + had the the 4.785 final ????????????//

So all the USDM ITRs had a 4.4 final?
