Ive run Skunk2, Rocket, Omni, REV, Supertech and NEVER HAD A PROBLEM ever. multiple motors revving to 9500rpms and above, and PRO3 cams.
I have seen a friends TODA retainers get destroyed after 10k miles though

good thing. the open poll bandit would have struck.
is chrome moley better than holy moley? srsly, i would tkae a look at rocket sl, or the newer skunk2 ones, but more importantly, pick something that snap fits with its spring. makes install a hell of a lot easier. not sure if the skunk2 are snap fit.

Skunk2 every time. 5 "B" builds and 3 "H" builds... great track record and performance... cant speak about longevity because I never ran or owned the motors long enough to know the life span... hahahah!
The raw material they use is better then teh others out there...

i'll have to agree with all of you guys, stick with the valvetrain of which cams you are running. and all the other comments. thanks for the replies guys!

K20 retainers are different... otherwise all of the retainer manufactures would simply list a single part number for all.
They break down like so:
D16Y and Z same
B16A/B, B17A, B18C, C30, C32, F20B and H22 same
B18A/B, B20B/Z same
K20 All, K24 All same
F20C and F22C same

I'm also wondering because I'll be purchasing vc in a couple weeks too. Is it true that the normal 6AL4V titanium everyone uses doesn't last very long? Is it true Crower is better? I'd like to have VC as reliable as stock. I'm thinking since I'm not going to be revving past 8.5-9K that new OEM Type R valvetrain is the best choice.

Not to attack, and im certainly not trying to sound like a dick but:
why would you EVER run OEM anything when it comes to valvetrain? You get more options and there is better stuff out there than OEM.
I dont see the point in going with OEM when the cost of aftermarket valvetrain is so affordable. WIth todays advancements in valvetrain technology, availability of materials , etc i would only buy aftermarket.
My 2 personal motors :
OEM GSR 187whp
2.0l LSVTEC 237whp
I revved both motors to 9500+rpms, over 300dyno runs each, both with Skunk2 and Rocket Motorsports valvetrain, NEVER ONCE HAD A PROBLEM
i have a customers OEM built b16, making 175whp with 9800rpms redline, running Skunk2 with no problems and over 50k miles of hard abuse.
Valvetrain IS a wear item, so it should be checked and i would def replace it after so many miles, so many RPMS , etc. I usually reccomend 40-50k miles replacing the valvesprings if your revving 9000 an below, and 20-30k miles 9000rpms -9800rpms. if your revving to 10,000rpms and beyond, i would replace the springs ever 10k miles.
On the big cams (pro2s-Pro3s) Donf likes the Skunk2 PRO springs an retainers. The PRO SPRINGS and retainers are the only valvetrain i will run with the PRO3s because every other spring an ret combo i ran with my PRO3s either had coilbind, or smashed my valve stem seals.
Like someone else said , find out what cams you are running and stick with that companys valvetrain. that usually takes care of any warranty issues you may have.
its hard to warranty Skunk2 cams with Omni valvetrain, or Rocket cams with Buddy CLub valvetrain, etc.
sorry for the rant
