if the dust gets on the wheels before the paint cures, it's not coming off. You really need to let the paint harden up, and then put tons of wax on them, if you're worried about keeping them clean.

Personally I don't wash my wheels, they just stay black.

Acid will removed break dust from rims, however I'm not sure what it will do to your paint.

You can't judge whether a pad is good or bad, just from how much dust it produces. Some pads just naturally make more dust.

Whenever I go through the wash at classic the high powered nozzles seem to clean my rims quite nice! My pads dust so much!

Ok genius...had autozone pads before...endless breakdust.
Now have AEM pads and have virtually no breakdust at all.

A friend had Autozone pads...same massive amount of breakdust.
He then switched to a set of Hawk pads...well what'ya know...almost no breakdust.

Say what you want...but I have no breakdust problems *shrugs*

the composition and materials of the brake pad will determine if they will "dust" a lot or not.
generally speaking, the more aggressive the pad composition (read:harder bite), the more they're gonna dust.
i also have hawk pads and they dust like a *****. i'm assuming i have a different composition of hawks than your buddy does.

Thanks for proving I was correct while you were trying to disprove what I was saying.

As for my boys Hawk pads not dusting...Prelude HPS (front)-935D503 (rear)-935D537 are the pads he has. Almost no dust at all. Don't know what to tell ya...debate it all you want. Tell me that you've used these pads on 50 cars and all your friends use them and tell me they dust like crazy....but I don't care about your cars or any other cars. I'm just saying he has these and almost no dust.

Definitely wax the rims. Dust comes right off.
