Default A few questions.....

I'm in the middle of purchasing a 03' Berlina Black AP1 w/ 17,XXX miles on it. Now I just need to know if the things I'm about to state are necessary to add on my S2000 before purchase. The car still has 4 years/100,000 mile warranty, which ever comes first, on the powertrain. They're trying to get me to extend the warranty for an additional 3 more years, covering it from bumper to bumper, you S2k owners think it's necessary? Another option they're trying to pull me into is the Lo-Jack, now I've already decided not to get it because I hardly go out, and the car will be garaged, plus I've never heard of a lot of S2000's getting stolen, besides the seats, that's another option I need your opinion on. One more thing they were talking about is the GAP? Now I wasn't really paying attention when they were talking about this, due to my S2000 distracting my attention. Anybody know about the GAP? Now to sum everything up everythings gonna add up to somewhere around the $4000 range. I've already got the car down to $23,000 out the door, I don't want to add on $4000 more bucks when I can probably find a new AP2 for that much. All your info is aprreciated, I need to make up my mind within the next hour so I can pick up my AP1.

The extra arrenty will not be needed.

Lo Jack is good, but it's like insurance, you don't want to have to pay for it, but when it is needed, you are glad you did.

GAP is gap insurance I believe. What it means is they will usually add a few dollars a month to your payment to cover the amount you owe OVER the amount the car is worth if the car is lost/ stolen/ or wrecked. In other words, you will walk out the door with a car that you owe $24,000 on. If on the way home you wreck it beyond repair, your insurance company may say it is only worth $20,000. You still owe the bank $4,000. The GAP is a little insurance policy that will cover that $4,000. The company is taking a chance until the amount you owe becomes less than the amount your car is worth. After that point, the company is making that much more money per month. It's a gamble for both parties.

I am officially a proud owner of a S2000. Handles like a go kart, revs like a bike. Though I am in the middle of breaking up w/ my B18c1 EG, I am now in love w/ my AP1, in other words, I'm selling my EG. This will be my DD so mods will be on the minimum (for the engine atleast). I plan on working on the suspension, so any recommendations on any suspension parts would be greatly apprceiated. It would be even better if you guys told me what your suspension setups are. Thanks for all your input.

Congrats!

Talking about the theft rate...really depends on where you live. In South Florida, the rate seems to be about 1 every 3 months reported stolen on the South Fla s2ki forum...all of those were sitting outside overnight however.

I'm not an expert on other Honda cars...but if you have a VAFC from your previous ride, you might want to hold on to it for the s2k. AP1s run very rich.
