RSX Turbo: prerequisites?
if i want to set up a greddy turbo on a 02-04 rsx should i have to change out pistons to handle the boost? i am looking to get about 300 hp when finally finished. another thing is what other parts should i do before the turbo (i/h/e)? get a turbo back exhaust now or after? also what tires do you reccomend?
thanks in advance
thanks in advance
Stock internals are fine... 300whp on the GReddy kit is about all your gonna get on safe boost 8-10psi. You'll definitely need Kpro and 3" exhaust. I would highly recommend a custom 3" downpipe/testpipe and to tap the oil return into the oil pan instead of using their banjo bolt sytle return... your turbo seals will thank you. 650-750cc injectors and the Walbro fuel pump will be needed also.
No street tires will give you traction in 1st and 2nd... 17" BFG drag radials will be your best bet for the street.

the greddy kit also comes with emanage should i still get k pro and will they conflict with each other? i am still not quite sure how those two work and ive tried to do homework.. the kit says it comes with 440cc injectors what horespower could i use those up to? thanks
with the little more info i could scrounge up i understand that k pro will be in addition to my stock ecu. i know that some with some, you can just download plug and go. but i've heard that you need to use a dyno and someone who knows a thing or two about tuning one in order to get what you want out of it. how true is this and do you have any suggestions for more information?
I would highly recommend getting Kpro and selling your eManage as you will not need it anymore. The eManage is a piggyback computer that works off the ecu so you can adjust certain parameters such as air/fuel. Its limited in what it can do compared to Kpro and a bitch to install. The Hondata Kpro is a daughterboard that is attached to your stock ecu to make your ecu programmable. It allows you to change fuel, ignition and cam angles... similar to the AEM stand alone ecu unit. You basically send Hondata your ecu with a couple other things, they install the daugherboard and send it back to you, then put it back in the car, hook it up, load a specific tuned map from their CD they give you and your good to go basically.
Hondata offers a lot of mildly-tuned maps in Kpro for specific modification to the RSX. So if you have the GReddy kit and install it as it comes, there is a map in there for an RSX w/GReddy kit and 440cc injectors. You would then upload this map after you install the kit and start her up. Most of these maps that are in the Kpro were tuned to get the cars running in decent shape but will need to be tuned more on a dyno to make the most power out of your setup.
The 440's in the kit are probably good up to 250-260whp and then they are pretty much maxed out. Another great thing about the Kpro is it allows you to rev to 8600 instead of 8100.
Hope that helps a little.
