Hey everyone i have a 2.0l b18b with a gt35r and the tachometer will not read past 6500 rpms.

what would cause this? the car has a MSD blaster coil and ignition.

ive heard so far it would be an igniter problem or an ignition coil...

thoughts?

need the tach! the car will rev to 9k on pump gas and i cant see revs past 6500!!

I used to have a problem like this. Not entirely sure what fixed it cause I tried a bunch of things and it finally worked again. It was eather my thermostat ground was loose or the tacho signal wire was loose at one of the connectors. Does anything else unusal happen other than the tach not reading? What does the tach do does it go straight back down to zero or just stay at 6500?

 

it drops down low to like 1 or 2k

there isnt any other problems per say either.

 

Sorry to ask but do you have aftermarket guages?

 

yes but its the stock LS tach/speedo etc.. -- year 2000 btw

MSD SS Blaster Coil
MSD Distributor cap
MSD Wires

.. is my MSD stuff.

My tuner said its prob my ignitor and the distributor may be beginning to fail.

What should i replace these with? OEM?

 

Does it bog or cut out at 6500 rpm or does the engine keep roarin along just fine?

 

oh it roars quite perfectly

--doesnt bog or seem to affect performance
