Default DC JDM Header - Made in Japan or US?

I have been told that DC JDM Headers are made in Japan, is this right. I couldn't think of a reason why they would be made in Japan.

Basically, you got a US company to make a replica of the JDM header. So they advertise it as "JDM" for a marketing move for their consumers to recognize what it is and looks like.

On their website they say it's made for the Japanese market hence the "JDM".

Actually, they have CTR and ATR headers also including new exhaust sys. only made for Japanese. Though there probably still being made in the US, which is probably the reason for the just under 700 USD header pricing in Japan is from. I'm guessing if they where made in Japan the price would drop more or atleast have better quality.

E-mailed DC (they are the ones who know after all) and they said:

"The JDM header is made here in Corona, Ca."

E-mailed DC about Cat-back exhaust for the Integra Type R:

"We use the 2 1/4 inch piping."

so it sound like they don't

Are you going to buy the DC JDM? It looked like **** when installed compared to how it looked new. The quality is not as good as I expected. The OEM JDM is much better quality!!! But no bling bling....

Mine is already on order, and it will be hidden (more on that when I sort it) so I'm not worried about how it looks, the inner size of the collector looks bigger than the Honda JDM from pictures I have seen which swayed me towards it but I didn't want to pay the sort of prices MUGAN and SPOON want for theirs

How are you going to hide it?
The JDM collector has a anti reversion chamber, that's why the inner diameter is smaller. But it's there for a purpose. But your testpipe has to be 65 mm OD to let it work... BTW. The DC has a 63 mm collector and the JDM 65 mm.
The Honda OEM header costs 400 USD.

But isn't the opening on the the Honda JDM about 56mm internal (from a pic on a post a while back), the DC JDM does not have the double welding the Honda one has (I can only go by pictures as I haven't seen either in the metal). And it got a marginally higher hp on the header test.

I have a car-sound cat to go on the same time as the header.

I plan to use/modify the standard UK heat shield to cover the header, it may involve the fabrication of a couple of brackets, the UK header shield has the same sort of mounting as the JDM one, not sure what the US one is like.

At the moment I am having trouble with the UK supplier (lots of excuses why it's taking so long to arrive, and I may end up looking elsewhere for another one if it continues

I have looked at the following from Japan.
http://www.speedinc.co.jp/exaust.htm I can get it for around 70,000 Yen delivered through a place in Japan.

The inner tube is about 60mm OD. I believe that double welding has a function, so I left it like this. Maybe that's the reason why the Dyno graph is smoother than the DC's. That marginally higher hp could be caused by the bumpy dyno graph of the DC or due to the bigger primaries (44mm -> 45mm) or the flanges.

I've also tried to use the Euro heatshield on the JDM header. But it's too different. Two primaries of the JDM header are going straight down. And the Euro heatshield is much smaller....

That's a Vision R header. Too expensive.

In reality these headers are very similar performance wise at this level of tune, like you say the Honda JDM is smoother. One of the factors for me going for the DC was that is was available through a UK dealer but that has endded up being delayed and I might as well have got it imported direct.

Oh well, that;s the problem when you never get to see these things close up, I'll work something out.

You can even buy the JDM Honda header at your dealer. But kinda expensive. About 875 Euros.
