LMP2 is going to be exciting next season. Dyson Racing just announced two Porsche entrants, too.

 

Sebring 12 hours is the first race........I will be at this event. Just got the tickets.

when i went to hodna school they had a video clip when they were testing the car, man i tell you that sounds sick and looks good!!! , well lets see how well it will do.

 

I'm looking forward to the Honda vs. Porsche battle in LMP2. Watch out Stuttgart.

x2 And if it's like last year, with a student ID tickets for the entire event are only like $40.

I can't wait to see this car. I've got an mp4 vid of the initial testing if anyone wants to host it. About 40mb

 

BTW, that's a pic of the press release car. The actual race car looks a bit different. More silver on it. Sounds awesome.

 

Well, they have 4 cars running: Adrian Fernandez 1 car, Andretti 2 cars and Another person 1 car........should be sweet.

 

Now thats a swap to put into an R....

I hope all 3 andretti's drive. That would be awesome.

 

I think it's great to finally see some new teams and cars in LMP2. This season is going to be even better to watch then last year.

It looks exactly like the honda V8 from the IRL that I saw from the autoshow last year. I figure it's badged a Acura engine since Acura is participating in ALMS, not honda.

I don't know what the exact differences are between the Honda IRL engine and the Acura LMP2 engine, but the Honda Indy V8 was codeveloped with Ilmor Engineering, because Honda Performance Development (a US-based division not to be confused with Honda Racing Development) had never developed a racing engine from scratch.

This Acura plant was done completely in-house:

is it me or does that V8 also resemble the one Mugen put in an Accord rated at 500bhp or something a couple of years back?

Yeah, the engines look generally alike since they're designed for open wheel race cars, with airbox behind the driver's head, and they're all short stroke, 90-degree V8s.



That engine was run in ALMS in 2002, actually.

Damn, I wish I knew their testing schedule. I'd love to go see some testing. March isn't to far, but still.
