What is this thing wired to the middle of the bumper?
Hey guys,
As the title says what is the little sensor looking grey plastic thing mounted to a bracket in the middle of my delsol bumper? It has a pink and a brown wire going to it. Anyone know?
Cheers Greg

Only helpful post so far.
To the people "testing" to see if it was JDM or not - 1st off, it doesn't matter, and 2ndly, I'm sure somebody knows whether they have airbags or not
At OP:
I'm not sure what it is - but a picture would certainly help.
Also, what's the wiring go to, a harness? By the sounds of the colors it might be aftermarket.
for pix.

1) Post it online, with photobucket.com or something.
2) Then click the "insert image" button, it's the 2nd one to the right next of the "underline" button, so it goes:
"Bold"-"Italics"-"underline"-"link"-"Insert Image"
That'll create a set of tags saying img and /img in brackets (these things: [])
3) Put the link to the picture in between the brackets so it's something like.
[ IMG]www.yahoo.com/start.jpg[ /img]
But without the spaces.
That is all.

Arent deer sirens just little holes that air passes through and only deers and animals can hear? My friends roommate had that on his car. Im thinking this is more of a horn. But put up a pic and well know for sure.
Also airbag sensor isnt on the bumper its on the firewall.

I know which sensor you are talking about, it is not the SRS, as hondas SRS system is all contained within the SRS computer, under the dash.
Looking at the wire diagram, it looks like some kind of diode for the AC system.

Though, why mount it in the middle of the bumper???</TD></TR></TABLE>
Nothing related to the AC system I can tell you that for sure. Unplug the black thing and post pics of that thing from all sides. Where and to WHAT exactly was it mounted to?
Again, it has nothing to do with the AC.

i don't know to much about del sols let alone jdm ones, but does your car have some sort of reading for outside temps? that is how almost all of the newer car have the sensors mounted. its just a guess but that is what it looks like to me.

Actually there is an additional sensor placed towards the center of the vehicle called a safing sensor that would also have to be tripped for the airbags to deploy. The myth about hitting one with a hammer will usually only give you an air bag light.
Air bag sensors are just a marble on a magnet at the top of a slope. A hard enough stop and the marble rolls and closes a circuit.
