I just bought an ipod and i want to hook it up to my cars pioneer headunit, so i wanted to know should i buy an Ip-bus cable that connects directly to my ipod's headphone jack area on top of ipod or that connects directly to my charging/transferring song jack area on the bottom of ipod, cuz i wanna get good sound quality, here's what im thinking of getting: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...yment

I already knew about that, but its not compatible with my pioneer DEH-4600mp, so i want to get something else, i thought about the CD-Rb10 but thats like $35.00 and then ill still have to buy a rca wire which is like $7.00, so i just want something like what i posted like it will be less than $30.00 and it will get the job done.

There is nothing exactly comparable to the Pioneer Ipod cable and around $30. The only other type of connection would be to buy a universal Aux. adapter that has an IPOD connector at the end and those run over $30.

Does your 4600 have a dedicated AUX connector, or do you need to use the IP BUS in order to convert the signal into an AUX/RCA? If you need to use the IP Bus, then the IP BUS to RCA is your only other inexpensive route.

the cd ib100II will work with your deck.

the connection is p-bus and works with all p-bus decks.

sure you can do a rb-10 or rb-20 but will have no control or charging.

just buy the ipod control and call it a day.

that is all

I don't know the specifics about all the different things mentioned in this thread, but I know that some iPod connectors allow the headunit to control the iPod songs and display the song info on the headunit. That would be my choice if I were doing it.

The only way to get the best sound through an ipod into your car is with the adaptor made specifically for that head unit. Even a direct AUX line from teh stereo will not sound as nice as the specific Ipod adaptors. I've installed Ipod's for customers in just about every way possible, and you cant beat the quality of those IPOD adaptors.

I was thinking the same thing too...about the compatibility of the IPOD adaptor for the 4600MP. I think the only thing the adaptor wont do is display the information from the ipod onto your stereo screen...But will still transmit the signal from the Ipod to the stereo.

Guess I have to wait to see a customer who wants to throw this on his 4600...

But i'll probably have the slightest chance since Pioneer does not reference the unit as compatible with the adapter. Salespeople just go by what the book says, so they'll probably turn that customer away.

its i pbus, and anything p-bus works with all p-bus decks.

I hooked up a xm tuner to the first p-bus deck that came out, before the deh-7000's, we are talking old school, worked like a champ.

Ive been installing for 12years and have seen it all man.

trust me when i tell you it will work great.

Thats awesome. I've been installing for 4 years and never encounter chances to try out some of the things you do. Maybe its the difference between shops we work for...i'm sure yours has much more freedom and such.
