2 questions for B16A1's
i wanted to know if automatic B16A1 cams are weaker then the 5-spd cams?
a friend of mine told me that they were, but i think hes full of boloni......
and i have a pr3 ecu and i pluged it into my crx and it worked but the ecu came with the auto motor so i suspected it to be auto.
can it still be an auto ecu or is it 100% a 5-spd one because it worked on my car?
the engine light was on and i didn't check what the codes were but i am thinking that it was just the secondary o2 sensor and vtec. can someone let me know if i have a auto ecu or a 5-spd one and if the cams on the auto B16A1's are different? thanks!!!

If I remember correctly.... he is right! They are weaker.... but this is only from what other people write in articles or posted on the net. I cant confirm it.
automatic b16a cams are THE weakest of bunch.
and if the ecu came off an automatic, it would be an auto ECU also. your rev limit would be around 7500 compared to 8100 with manual ECUs. and if you open the casing, there would be an AT stamped somewhere.

I have also heard the auto cams are weaker.
You can easily check the ECU. Take the cover off and look on the small board inside. It will either be marked AT for auto or MT for manual.

a simple way to tell if you have auto cams, pull the valve cover and look at the intake springs. if they are dual spring you have 5spd cams, single spring = auto cams
