Help! My B18c feels like its hitting Rev Limiter @ 5,000rpms?
Like the title says, it only does it when i'm revving, but not when i'm driving.
It started a couple weeks back, I was trying to do a 2nd gear burnout to warm up my slicks, but everytime i rev up to around 5000rpms it feels like i'm hitting a rev limiter , but i can still rev it pass 5000rpms. It only does it when i rev, but when i'm actually driving its fine. I just recently ran some honda top end cleaner through the motor and did a valve adjustment. I have no clue as to whats causing it to do this. I'll try to post a video later today. From what i've read on here, it could be floating valves, i'm not sure though.
Motor specs:
JDM B18c
skunk2 stg 1 cams
sk2 cam gears
sk2 intake manifold
dc headers
ITR throttle body
LK tuning chipped p28

sounds like a two step or full throttle launch control, does it only doing when your standing still?? because if thats the case you have LC, if your driving and try to rev it and it goes past 5k then ya.
check your distributor for shaft play or oil sometimes it will do that but hey what do i know. if you have programed launch contro then you might want to add that little detail. and by the way there is no way that you are floating valves at 5 grand.
My car did the samething hitting a rev limited at 5,000 rpm. My car was throwing an engine light so I took it in for checking to reveal my car was decting a misfire. Hope this helps you out

i had the same exact problem before, drove me crazy for a long *** time, and then i came to found out that it was the hondata 2 step, i had it wired to a clutch switch, disconnected it, and went away, drove me nuts for like 2 months, i replaced the whole entire dizzy, cap, rotor and ignitor, cost me alot of money just to find out it was the ******* 2 step

if it was a 2 step, why is it happening now? I've had this setup for awhile now, and besides, it doesnt stay put at a certain rpm like a two step, i can actually rev pass it but it has a hard time doing so. can a chip ever go bad? if so, that is maybe my problem. no check engine lights either.
