Default Dish or Flat?

Would a dished steering wheel be impractical for a street car? Or are they meant for rally cars? They look real good. Only problem might be the steering wheel being too close to the driver since the hub is already 2 inches thick. What you guys think?

Buying a steering wheel for looks is the wrong reason.

A steering wheel is like clothes, get what fits you.

I personally like a flat wheel because I sit closer to the steering wheel and dont need it sitting on my chest.

Height will play a factor in decision.

i have the dished Nardi rally......... and i f'in love it!! i used to have a flat wheel and then switched and i wouldnt have it any other way

and yes my height plays a big role in why i like it....... im 6'3" and with the dished wheel i can actually swing my knees underneath it without touching it whereas my old flat wheel, i would just hit the bottom of it

and i also like the dish as far as bringing it closer to me i love having the wheel closer to me..... again because of my height and the seat scooted all the way back it is way more comfortable and more in reach for me......... hell even all my shorter friends that drive my car and scoot the seat forward love it and all say they will buy one

dished

i'm pretty tall too, but for me i think i'd rather have a flat one. the layout of the ITR is absolutely perfect for me, seat all the way back, steering wheel at the top of its adjustment, and obviously fiddle with the back a bit and its absolutely spot on

So I guess its a matter of preference. I was having the impression that dished wheels are only for rally cars. Any pictures of nice dished wheels? Flat wheel pics are fine too.

love my jdm non-SRS Momo (350mm). the the thick rim feels great especially at 9 and 3 'o clock, not to mention that it freed up quite a bit of knee room (i'm *only* 6'1 ) since i could tilt the column up more.

if i had a virgin R, a steering wheel would be my first mod

So it seems longs legs would be the deciding factor on a dished or flat wheel. Guess I'm gonna have to get a dished wheel at 6ft tall.

I'm also 6 feet, and I have a quick release and a dished wheel, it's a Sparco 368. This setup has finally enabled me to get a comfy sitting postition, I can stretch my legs out to help heel-toe'ing and still have the wheel close to chest for good control. Only downside is that the indicator/lights/wiper controls are 10cm further away from the wheel.

Here's a pic showing the arrangement :
