Default What makes a turbo sound like this one???

http://videos.streetfire.net/h...e.htm

I've heard many turbos. Some got it, some don't. That beautiful high-pitched shrill, similar to that of a dentist drill. My SC-61 doesn't have it. Is there any way I can maybe change the housing to make it sound like that?

You must be one of those guys that boost their car for the sound of the BOV... Who gives a **** what your turbo sounds like... You need to sit down and rethink this post and say to yourself "Why did I boost my car?"... Did I boost it to go fast or did I boost it to sound like my car is a star in Fast and the Furious?

Do'h! Got me there. How can you tell what this ricer-*** sounding anti-surge housing looks like? What turbos come with it?

I care about sound as well as speed. Sorry, I didn't know that was a ticketable ricer crime. I like the sound for me, I don't care what others think of it. If all I cared about was sound, I wouldn't have fully built it. AF-P Dunc and Tuned1 can vouch, he's tuning my car in a few weeks.

IM jk I just cant grasp on why people worry about the sound of their BOV. I guess people just enjoy it for different reasons! Let us know the # on the car once tuned!

Yeah, all BOV's really sound fine to me. I was mainly just curious as to why some turbos sound like a dentist drill when spooling and others don't. My car is complete, just waiting for my tuning appointment w/ Tuned1. Hopefully tuning right after the holidays! I'll definitely post up.

Maybe after tuning and having a lot of hp the sound will be your last concern lol...

how do the holes create anti-surge and if you have a houseing that doesnt have it anyway to get like hte drilled holes style done or would you need a new houseing?

i always thought that sound came from running high boost or nearing the efficiency limit of the turbine...

diesels have the sound pretty much from factory, but when you chip them and open up their exhaust they really scream.
i've heard a few high boost hondas make that sound as well as some low boost hondas with tiny turbos. this is what leads me to believe that the anti-surge housing doesn't have much to do with that sound.

this is just an observation though so i could be way off

anti surge housing is not responsible for that sound, its just a sound that happens from some serious spool, my old t67 did it very nicely. lol.

Come to think of it, the only other times I've heard it is when they were tuning in relatively high psi ranges. This makes sense now I think.

Ha, is it just me or did that sucker go supersonic? In the upper RPM ranges the sound on the video seems to cancel out.

Well after a lot of tuning and power that will shortly be more, I'm still concern with how my car looks and how it sounds. Some of us like quality all around and want the whole package. That doesn't make people any more ricer than the next.

I can and will vouch for you Mclude The car sounded like that near the end of the video because the camera they were using couldn't handle the noise levels.

when i ran 24-27psi through my 57 trim it made that noise, anything below it it made more of a really loud whoosh noise constantly, and i didnt have any anti-surge housing or fancy shmancy crap

hmm...I don't recall my turbo doing that...

Although I never went above 25psi...
