I searched for a stock 86 Civic engine. News paper data base, (thinking I could buy a whole car for the engine) and nothing was listed in all of Louisiana and Mississippi.
I sent an email to the News Papers asking for someone to search the "Old Ad's" thinking of somebody who didn't sell thier Honda, and maybe I could get it.....NOpe, they wont do that.
I went to DMV, and nope....They wont do a search either.
Finally I wound up in the wrecking yards database (excuse me, Salvage or Recycly yards) and I found about 100 engines for the 84-87 Civics. Most of them in Texas, and in Texas they wanted the most money. $575-$595.
In New Jersey, I got one for $150 plus Shipping of $125. That's with a 30 Day guarentee.
I only found one in Louisiana. $375.
I'd guess that Mr. Honda never sold as many of those little cars as he'd like you to think he did!
Or...They last a long time and are all still on the Road?
Or...When they die, the whole car is dead. Nothing left to sell?
It was an interesting week though. Now I'm waiting to see what the Truck brings me!

SEEWEED, I was Virused and had to Re-Init my disk so I lost the name and phone number of the Wrecking yard in NJ. But there are others up there in the Atlantic seaboard.
