AXLES don't fit!!!!
I have a 91 hatch dx and recently had the d16A6 in it (motor died). i am swapping in a B18A1 and the axles do match up to the hubs like i had been told they would. It is getting really annoying that every little thing that could go wrong during this swap has and i finally get to were i am almost done wit it but no the dam axles dont match up. Does anyone out there know which axles i am "suppose" to use. I currently have the axles that came with the motor and tranny....... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The teg axles should fit in your dx hubs. The DX and SI hubs both work. Do the splines match up? You may need to remove your dush sheild. Are you using the intermeidate shaft that came with the b18?
The way it sounds like you got the HF/STD hub on the car so you might need to go get another knuckle from 88-91 SI like what I did which bolts on like a charm.
ok that was what i was thinkin but how can i tell and if i had the d16a6 in there wouldnt that mean that i would of had to have the si hubs on there already or does the hf/std axles work wit the d16a6??? that is what is confusin the crap out of me and makin my swap a total and complete pain. plus if anyone reading this has a set of si hubs that will bolt right up and work let me know if u want to sell them. thanks
i think hf axles might work with the a6 trans so its possible thats what could have happened.. i used 90/91 integra axles and DX hubs on my 91 hatch with b18 when i did it. dx or si hubs will work.. hf wont i dont think and i know std wont .
It's hard to track history of what has been done to the car in the last 15-16 years. So it's possible it has been changed or not. You can find out what motor was orginial in there by calling honda dealer with the vin number to get the correct model. Teg axle will not fit in hf/std hub you will need to get dx/si knuckle.
Call around the junkyard and see if you can find one from 88-91 dx/si knuckle
Good luck

you sure you actually have a dx and not a std? cause alot of people confuse the two....with the a6 swap all the person had to do is re-use the std axles and it will work no problem...so yeah like these guys said get some dx or si hubs.
so i guess i do have an std then and not a dx. i was just confused with the whole d16a6 swap that was already done. i thought that they would of had switched out the hubs too but i was wrong thanks for all the help and hopefully i will be able to have my car out the garage soon. as soon as i am done wit all of the work i will start a project thread so untill then thanks for all the info and help guys.

The axles HAVE TO BE 90/91 acura integra 5 spd NON ABS, make SURE the intermediate shaft your using is also a 90-93 integra intermediate shaft or course.
I would also suggest popping off the dust rings behind the hubs so they fit better from what i heard and don't bind on you.

haha i had a similar problem...stupid HF's
well the weird thing was i got a swap done at whitfield on my crx HF with a b16a...so i figured they did the whole swap of knuckles and what not...BUT NOPE
so they basically got some custom axles that fit b series to those small HF hubs.
I took them out though cause i went with the siR knuckles/brakes
so if you dont want to do the hassel of swapping out knuckles/brakes blah blah i got those axels if you want to buy them

so when i swap out the knuckles the rotors and brakes will be the same right? i know it sounds like a really stupid question but just asking. i have already bought new stock pads and rotors that i am hoping will fit when i change the knuckles? also to ozrednsx if i hadnt already ordered the si knuckles then i would of took those axles off of your hands
My car is STD and I bought new rotor and pads before I knew about hub size. I just got the 91 si knuckle and my new brakes fit in there perfect no need to change anything just the knuckle. Make sure you knock out that axle sheild off the hub then you're good.
