Default Another S2k Turbo setup

Here is a stage 1 setup we did for a local guy, he is going to be getting tuned within the next week
jg-fab topmount log
jg-fab 3" downpipe
jg-fab 2.5" hot side charge pipe 2.75" cold side
gt35r
f22c
precision 600hp intercooler
Tial 38mm wg
Greddy Type R bov

He is shooting for 450whp on pump gas this should be very easy for this setup

you should also connect his bumper to the fender better.

It is connected as good as stock nothing more can be done there in real life you cant even notice that I think it is just the camera angle and flash making for a nasty shadow there

If the compressor housing is getting hot enough to melt the fuse box then there are some very big bad issues, note the heatshield keeping the heat off the battery by the exhaust housing/downpipe

Blow off valve is on the wrong side of the intercooler

It doesnt matter where it is as long as it is in the system somewhere....

With James' placement, the surge would be relieved from the compressor side faster vs the TB side, but it gives up BOV response time. Like OP stated, it works regardless of placement, but the effect is different.

Please disprove it....
There are more than enough builders out there than will agree with me
I have run it like this on many setups even some of mine before all doing exactly like any other blowoff valve setup will do, you shift, it hiss's, you keep boost when you get back in gear....

james, the air will have to travel back to the intercooler to get vents out, both will work but bov after the ic will work better.

Actually you are partially wrong and right
the intercooler is a huge sock in the system when the air hits the throttle body the air doesnt just shoot back like a pingpong ball to the bov (it does but for only about the first 20" thus they say to put bov no more than 20" away from throttle body) now what happens, the air just more or less sits there in the charge pipe waiting (just like a intake manifold, bigger plenum = bigger throttle response, here we are making the chargepiping a huge plenum on tap for when the throttle body opens again), on the other end of the deal the turbo is still spinning if you had a bov by the throttle body the air would be pushed out of it and air is still being pushed through the turbo and intercooler making the intercooler heat soak just a hair more, now if you have the blow off valve before the intercooler the air never makes it through the intercooler not making it heat soak anymore

sorry my words might be a bit off I am very tired been up for 20 hours today but you should be able to get my drift by this above, I have a method to my madness and it seems to work so I am sticking to it

I thought the point of the BOV was to prevent boost pressure from going back into the turbo, causeing the turbo to surge???

if that is the case than it seems having it where its placed in the pictures makes more sense
