I'm curious as to what the "Interlock Control Unit" is. I've done a PGM-Fi swap on my 91 Standard Hatch and have been going over the wiring and noticed this unit. Here's a pic of my Chilton repair manual that shows the Standard wiring (Bottom) and the Si wiring (Top). Click on images to see a bigger view.





Now my question is what the heck is this thing for? I thought it was for Autotransmissions, but I'm not sure since both the Si and Standard have them. Plus my car wasn't an Automatic before I did the PGM-Fi swap. Also, the three DIYs I got for doing the wiring on this swap do not mention switching the wire from the B16 pin in the Standard/Dx to the A13 pin on the Si. Basically I cut the White/Red wire at the B16 pin (in the standard) to put the White wire from pin C9 (for the Si wiring). And the Si had the White/Red wire for the Interlock Control Unit at pin A13 and in my Standard there is nothing at pin A13, so do I just not need this Interlock Control Unit or what?

Probably doesn't matter, but I'm just curious about what the crap this thing is. I searched for it on HT, in my manuals, and on the net and haven't found a damn thing about it except there is one for sale on Ebay from a 96 Civic. That's it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

just making some educated guesses here but it can be for ABS brakes or maybe the key lock solenoid used to lock the key when automatics are in park

 

That's kind of what I was thinking. So since my car is a manual I don't have the key lock and hence don't need to hook up the wire right?

Any other thoughts?
