The parents asked what I wanted for x-mas, I said tires (cuz I need tires badly)
I commute 75miles a day for starters, so I'm just gettin OE size replacements, 205/55//16. Got these tires here:
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

These are the best I could find as far as ALL around and a good rating on treadwear...
You guys think there is anything else out there I should look into for the future?

well thats not good, thats one of the reasons why i'm buying them, they are the top rated tires on good treadwear
once again, i commute to work so i need tires w/good treadwear

You should be able to get 40,000 miles on them if you rotate them frequently (~6,000 miles) and don't have any alignment problems. Stay away from the G-Force Sport, they are one of the lower performing tires in their class (UHP Summer Only). According to nsxstasy (HT tire guru) the Kumho Ecsta ASX is also very good, although I didn't have the best experience with them. For the price though you could get almost 2 sets of ASXs for the same price as the B-stones plus there is a $40 rebate available (Link: http://www.kumhousa.com/Promo/...y.pdf ).

Now that's an idea. Hit up eBay. More fun to have multiple sets of wheels versus tires that will not last.

The BS Pole Positions are good tires. I'm sure you'd be happy with them. The Michelin Exalto all seasons are also something you may wanna look into.

I would say that 90% of us commute to work.
As for the tires, I agree with the above two....get another set of SI rims with tires.

If i wasn't commuting my life away, those tires w/out question are what would be on my car
my parents paid for the tires (x-mas), they're not soo keen on the idea of buying rims with used tires... you know how the parent things go... i'd like 17's, OEM Si rims, but no one is selling them local for a good price or anything w/new tires... i just never see deals local, so i figured just new tires will have to suffice, i'll buy rims that i actually want later

yeah i think i'm with tre on this. I read up a lot and have pretty much made up my mind about getting the michilin pilot exalto a/s(all season) They are supposed to be awesome in rain light snow and still stick well in dry conditions. They are also said to be extremely quiet and are rated for 45,000 miles. Basicly the best performance/weather compromise. A little pricy for me though. I'd check these out if your looking for all seasons.

"dealer-take off" means that they were taken off by the dealership when the car was sold because the customer wanted to put a different type of rim on, etc. that means that the rims and tires will be new. i bought my si rims w/summer tires brand new for $400+shipping, which is going to be even less than the money you spend on tires alone. shop around on ebay a bit, i know a lot of people on h-t sell takeoffs. pm tre and ask if he has anything, or if not that, put a WTB here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1825770

yeah my dad was recommending i should have gone with michelin, but can't really go wrong between michelin and bridgestone, both are great brands.
like i said above, my parents are buying me the tires for x-mas, if i bring up "new rims and tires" blah blah, it's just gonna be a no go. believe me i'd like to get off these 16" really bad...
i'm thinking of just trading + cash for some 17" rims once the tires get here and just wait to mount them... but iono if that's going to happen... seems as if no one is interested at all in the new 06 ex rims.... like the black sheep of honda rims or something
thanks for alls your input!

Exactly
As long as you know that much the rest just comes down to which TYPE of tire you want -- All season, summer, etc, etc

I got either the Pole Positions or the G009.
Either way I got the decent Potenzas.
I've had them on my car for almost a year now, and I must say, it's night and day. It's still not as grippy as a good set of summer tires, but my cornering speeds shot up by a lot, I get traction much earlier (no burnout!) and braking is better as well.
They're noisier than the stockers but after a week you won't notice the difference. I drove 800 miles in one day on these tires and I wasn't bothered by them...
On a 2000 Accord 4 cyl, that's a lot of improvement
I run 215/50/17's.

I worked at Les Schwab for 2 years so I got some good advice for ya. I would run a Toyo Proxes 4 I ran them previosly on my 04 focus and put 35,000 miles on them in a year and still had good tread life when I traded the car in. I love them so much all year round that I now have them on my Si and they are a high performance tire also.If you can have them siped it will improve all aspects of lateral movement such as braking and accelerating and it also keeps the tire running at a cooler tempature wich will assist as far as tire life is concerned. hope I was of help. oh and for referance I dont work for les schwab anymore but they have the absolute best warranty and service around.

thats good to hear. i've always been one to go to americas tires.. so i'll have to check that out.
thanks for the information.
i got the tires in the other day... was trying to work out some trades but fuq it... 06+ civic EX rims are the black sheep of honda rims... no one is interested in these things, seems like you have to PAY someone to take them from you, so i'm just gonna rock the new tires and save up for something else in the future...
i'll be getting them mounted and balanced probably at the beginning of the year, still got easily another 3,000 to 5,000 left on the fronts.
i'll take pics for you guys, show you what i'm working with
thanks again for everyone repsonse!
