Parking brake cable rusted solid to caliper bracket...
The passenger side rear caliper is frozen on our 1993 SE. I bought a rebuilt unit from Napa, but I can't get the thing apart to install the new one! The parking brake cable is stuck in the bracket. I can't get it out! I've tried sliding a pipe over the clevis and hitting it w/ the hammer. I've tried to chizle out around the front. No luck.
It looks like the bracket is attached to the caliper with two bolts. They are also rusted... I rounded them off already.
Any thoughts or ideas before I take a bolt cutter to the parking brake cable and housing? Grind the heads off the two bolts and hope the bracket comes off?

I'll never buy a used car from New York again.

Looks like a job for "PB Blaster" soak it for a couple hours, keep it wet.
Then use a back up hammer on one side and smack the crap out of it with another hammer, the idea being to slightly distort the opening in the holder to break it loose.
In the worst case you can hacksaw a groove down from the top, then use a chisel to spread it slightly.
Damn Yankees and their salted roads ! !
