off topic but a question about the theft posibilites for the new mugen si
i was always so worried with my R how many of the new mugen si's which honda will make 500 per year will last even one year. hey its no R by any stretch but its kinda nice and very limited. i love my sti but the gas milage is getting to me and the chance i can get a low milage R is slim. i was considering the mugen Si but if should be a big theif magnet for those mugen parts. any was nice to see everyone here and i look forward to your coments. thanks for all who reply!
oh wow, honda is releasing a Mugen version of the Si to the public?
got anymore information about this?

It sure will be a theft magnet, IMO. Granted it doesn't have a better engine than a regular Si, like the ITR has over other Integras, but all those Mugen bolt-ons will be highly desired by scum thieves. Even those interior trim pieces will find their way onto base Civics.
It's a shame you have to think of the "theft factor"

Those cars don't stand a chance of survival in tact. 500 units = ultra rare. Premium price = jealous broke kids who want to play but can't pay
At the least they'll be targeted for the wheels, but I don't see it stopping there, so thieves can get their long-overdue-for-amputation hands on the skirts, suspension, exhaust, etc. While they're at it, they've got a K-series out of it, too, so why not take the whole thing, in their mentality?
I wouldn't risk it in any area where Civics & Integras are at risk now.

Not a bad idea, but it's too gimicky for the price, and, offers no real performance gain over a base SI.
And yes, every lowlife-f*cktard-loser will be after those things to steal the bling off of it.
As it is now, people are paying msrp or better for the base/nav SI's. The dealership mark ups on these Mugen SI's is going to be nauseating.
Not to mention that you can buy a mazdaspeed 3 in the low 20's (without dealer imposed inflation) that can whoop the dogshit out of an SI, and, an ITR for that matter.
I feel sorry for the first dip **** that gets in line, to get raped by their local Honda dealer for one of these cars.

My buddy with an ITR and I was just discussed the same topic the other day. Can you imagine parking one off those limited Mugen Civic out at the open such as a mall

Yep, a marketing gimmick for those who care.
If the msrp was below $26K and there were no dealer mark up's it would be something to look at, but I have a sneaking suspicion that some guys are gonna pay STI money for a 15 second 4 dr SI with "mugen bling".

I dunno, I think it's cool that Honda is offering this car.
But for near $30K, I'd buy a TSX over a Mugen Si in a heartbeat. All the Mugen goodies in the world won't add up to a double-wishbone front end, not to mention a better warranty and much more pleasing design.
As for theft, it must be considered that there are far fewer cars out there that the new Mugen Si's parts will fit than there are old Civics and Integras that can use ITR parts. In some areas like SoCal and NYC, the Mugen Si probably won't last long. But everything gets stolen in those places. Overall, though, I don't think theft will be nearly as bad as ITR theft. Not for years to come anyway. This latest generation of Civics is still pretty new, and the people who own them already shelled out the bucks for a new car. That's not the best market demographic for stolen parts.
Now when the parts will fit a dirt-cheap car any scumbag can afford, there will be a problem.

I think you guys are highly over-rating the desire of theifs for this car.
There just isn't many parts that can be used on other cars. The only items really desirable are the wheels and the motor, but folks would rather have the 02-06 RSX-S due to a more friendly ECU and throttle cable.
I would not be afraid to drive and park one.

er'yup .... i would agree! I don't think we are going to see the same issues with the Mugen Si as we have other hondas and especially the R.
